Who goes to cruise nights???

Hey guys, I took my car to a cruise night in the next town and I felt kinda out of place... most of the cars were either new r*****, older muscle cars ( 60's-70's ) and hot rods... there was one Iroc there and that was it... anyone else felt awkward like that???

I'm starting to see more and more Thirds/80's cars at cruises. With every year there should be more showing up since they are getting up there.

Ther are like no good thirdgens in my area. Their are a few but nothing real clean or nice . So i gotta rep the thirdgens in my area .

2-3 times a week and more when i can.....i love it and the lack of thirdgens, especially clean or even moded ones makes the car really stand out. if anything sometimes i don't like to go because i can't leave my car so occasionally i don't take the car so i can walk and check out others.

why cant u leave your car. Do u think people will steal something or something from it. Luckinly i live you u can leave your car at a car show and no one will mess with it.

yes.....and alot of people ask questions which is nice but sometimes it keeps you from being able to check out the other cars.

here in detroit you can't leave anything you care about so i'm always within distance of the car wether people know or not. a main reason why so much of the car is remote as well. if the nitrous purge or movement of the suspension doesn't get them to at least back up then rolling the windows and closing the hatch all by remote keeps them away.

around my area we also have a problem with "scouts" basically people from the inner city come out to some of the cruises, scout the cars and take the vins. alot of things get stolen that way.

I just took my Camaro to a cruise night on Friday, and as expected, my car was the only one (besides a new GTO) that was newer than about 1973.

But hey... my car is going to be 20 years old next year. Back in the early 90s car shows were full of 70 chevelles and 70 camaros... and those were only 20 years old at the time. My car belongs there as much as anybody's. I just don't get upset when less people look at my car, because I realize that most of the patrons at those shows aren't all that interrested in thirdgens.

I went to one yesterday and I couldnt walk away from my car and check out the rest of the show because I had so many people asking about it. My car took 2nd place in my class. Take a guess what took 1st

It only had 4,000 miles and the owner was cool as hell. I told him about this place too

i went to one a couple weeks ago that my friend told me about, that was an interesting place for me to be at. i was surrounded by a couple vipers and a bunch of stingrays. Thankfully, a guy in a slammed s-10 told me about the other meet spots in the city. and then i felt more comfortable there.

Never been to a cruise night before.....

Now that my car is up to par with competing with some of the nicer old cars, I plan to to attend my first show at the Super Chevy Show in Gainesville in October....

Never had time for car clubs, too busy with work and school....both full-time...

yeah my local club i'm the only thirdgen regular, there is a 2nd gen, a 1st, and lots of 4th, but only me the 3rd gnener. I like being the only one cause they dont knwo what they are loking at when they see that engine bay, its too old for them. I said TPI to a couple of them last wednesday and they were like, what, lemme see.

Don't feel out of place Paul, you know how it is here in Denver. Remember our gathering at my place all the fourth gens lining the streets, and you and I, plus Kelly were there in our third gens as well as Jesse (oldbluezz). You know all of us that showed have the premeire third gens in the club. If you remember I had quite the crowd around my car. Sometimes when we have club gatherings, I am the only one who shows up in a third gen.. but when others show up we are overshadowed by fourth gens. Imagine how badass67 feels being the only 1st gen that shows.
I think the thing is here is that we as third gen lovers work on our cars to make them as nice as they can be we dont have to go out and spend 20 or 30 grand on a new car and just put it in a show we work to make ours show quality. If thats the case any one of us could go to a car show every weekend just visit a new car dealership on a sunday. I've seen your car and I didn't see any crack or fading paint I saw potential!! I mean how much effort does it take to write a check every month for a car payment, when all of us third genners have a free and clear title, and we dont have to wait until the warranty expires to do modifacations on our cars. We are the warranty for our cars!! I for one don't like to be told what to do with my car!!

just gotback from the best cruise night ever. We were at Burger King, we get free food cause one of our member owns 21 BK's in jax. then we led over toa empty road that nobody uses and we dragged. But ofcoarse with my inexperince with dragging i could only hold up for a short amount of time then they took off. I got off the line first, but they passed me. I was amazed cause my 1st gear seems to be slipping.

but it was awesome guys. One guy with a two turbo ls1 broke a rod or something tonight. It still ran but it made relaly bad noises and all. he limped home.

proving a point

I think I kinda proved my point last night at hamburger stand. I was parked beside a WS6 Trans Am and a couple of other fourth gens but all of the people who passed by stopped to look at my car first. Now granted my car is not all that, and I didn't even wash it because it rained earlier, but I still got several questions about it. While people that came to look, seemed to just pass the other cars that were there up. So being the only third gen there or feeling out of place did not cross my mind. Although I joked about it several times while hanging out, I felt a sense of pride having people crowd around my car, and I felt even better when a guy pulled up in a 91 Z28 just because he saw my car and wanted to know what I had done to it...

Well, here at cruise night most people bring thier SUV's, trucks and verts just looking for guys and chicks. Every now and then you see a sports car on the cruise, but most park in the parking lots on the strip, the car clubs I guess. Every now and I then I see a very slick white iroc cruising up and down, along with a very clean red RS vert.

Just look at it this way and from my experience as another person put on one board. When you see a nice fourth gen driveby. Its just that, a nice fourth gen. When you see a nice thirdgen go by, you snap your neck and you watch it until it goes out of sight.

Whatever russ your ride is bad *** and you know it . maybe we should fill the guys in on the 4th gen thing. On coloradof-body there are maybe a dozen thirdgens and about 9 thousand 4ths and the 4th gen guys tend to be asswipes except for a few.

I had to miss what woulda been my first one

It was about 2 weeks ago... there was a show and shine where I work, and a cruise afterwards. Problem was, the cruise started at 5:30 and I started work at 6:00

Oh well, lol.

The second I get the car painted and re-install the interior (this and next month) it will be going. You don't see many early 3rd gens.
