I too,
Love the ground effects on the '91-'92 Birds, including the nose with the foglights!
Looks like the Pontiac designers did a great job giving the makeover of the car a Banshee look!
The ground effects give the car a much lower appearance! Cars without the ground effects look like 4x4s to me!
I do like the complete inserts painted black though! Good job!
The '91-'92 Trans Am/GTA taillights are by far the best looking ones ever! Popular too! Just check out the ebay prices (and yes, I know not many were built)! Too bad Pontiac didn't release them eariler in the '82-'92 build run!

My take,

George

The 91-92's look like they were was designed by little Aliens
from Roswell NM. No wait ! It was designed by a
team of Chinese hiding in a bat cave. No wait ! It was
designed by a team of disgruntled GM Engineers who
had so much excess plastic left over, that they decided
to hang it on the front of the poor Firebird. No wait !
who really cares ! If you're stuck with it, just drive it
and live with it. A Camaro could be in your future. Just
be patient and you'll get one !

Ya gotta admit one thing though. It's a hell of a lot
better than most anything else out here

I prefer the 85-90 look myself! I just could never get used to that nose! Though it does look amazing with the RAI hoods!

its even harder to fit 11" rims under a firebird fender well than it is an iroc/camaro -

andris skulte runs a 1 1/2" spacer on each side with his iroc, with identically back spacer rear 11's - i run a 1/2" spacer... the camaro's are an inch wider at each fender lip than the birds, hence more clearencing to get them to fit underneeth.

In japan they are very strict as to what you can do to a car over there - we definately dont deal with that here... i just get looks and told nah, i dont wanna race - ur tires are big for a reason...

So yeah anyways, they are shoe horned in, have had no need to roll the fender lips tho..
My next rims I was thinking about 11s or 10.5...your pics are not displaying on the thread anymore, but I was wondering how wide is your stance is it about flush with the rear fender like mine?

Cause that is the look I want, just with wider wheels and tires!

i love the 91-92 nose , it looks sweet and it would look better if the trans am had the formula things in it . then it would be like the shizzle.

ok well it seems the image is too large to add here but it's the red bird on the first page....... pretty much the same thing only does not have fog lights and has a nasty flat black plastic cover instead of the angled slot as in the above pict

Nice! So what are you running up front? Rim and tire combo size? Curious how wide I can go up front w/o scrubage?

ok, here goes... i believe the fronts are 50mm offset, 9.5" wide 17" rim... currently have 285/s on it, those are what came with the wheels... they rub at full lock... i will be putting 275's on this spring. 2" spacers are used.

Rears - in my case i ended up with a 36mm offset wheel... this caused me to need a 1/2" spacer. try and find a set of 54mm offset wheels... i do NOT like using slip spacers, and had to have this one custom made... i used stronger studs, but again, im not happy about it... however, it has held up fine in autocross. the tires on the back are 335/35/17. they rub... i practically mini tubbed the area outback, and they still rub under hard cornering. Again, they were what were on the wheels when i bought them, they will be getting replaced by a 315... that im confident will make the not rub and tuck the tire under the well just perfect...

Interesting point to note - andris skulte runs the same offset wheels on his iroc, with 1 1/2" spacers in the back... To the best of what i have been able to determin, it is more difficult, hence the need for more pounding inside the wheelwell, to tuck tires under the back fenderwells on the firebirds. The only thing that i can tell is that the width of the camaro vs the firebird at the rear fenderwells is WIDER... put another way, the back of the firebird body is narrower....
