Leather Conditioner - Which one?

I will be paying like $1500 for a new custom 2-tone leather seat interior and so I naturally want to do whatever it takes to ensure the leather remains feeling and looking new for YEARS to come.

Out the following (or add your own), which would be the BEST Leather Conditioner to use? Why that particular one? I would like that SOFT, feeling, and with a nice shine.

- Mothers Conditioner
- Meguiar's Gold Class Rich Leather Aloe Conditioner
- Meguiar's Gold Class Cleaner & Conditioner
- Meguiar's Gold Class Rich Leather Aloe Cleaner & Conditioner
- Armor All Leather Care

Any pro's/Con's from using a Leather Conditioner SPRAY as apposed to a pour out liquid?

Thanks

Has anyone here actually HAD this happen or is this all hear-say?

I personally was using it for years (Vinyl and Plastic Protectant) (before I ran out and stopped using it) and personally I have never had a problem. It gave the dash a Amazing shine and was not greasy at all. To this day, I have no problems.

The bottle is quite an old version.. it's copyrighted 1994. Perhaps things have changed (for the worse) since then.. ?

If you can get LEXOL, I would use that. It is more of a professional grade product. There is a company called Pro that also manufactures/distributes professional grade car care products. Their R-44 Leather Lotion is good. But, if you can't get your hands on either one of those, go with the Meguirs. From what I have gathered, they use a better blend of polymers, UVA, and UVB inhibitors than ArmorAll.

Thanks.

The seats apparently comes with some LEXOL Leather Conditioner.

Seems LEXOL is the ideal stuff.. What size is the bottle? Which exact type would I look for? How much does it run for? What about LEXOL is particular makes it so good? Thanks.

Lexol is one of the few American brands available overhere, I use it and it does the job wel!

Lexol Leather Cleaner (orange bottle) and Lexol Leather Conditioner (brown bottle)

For the dashboard etc. I use Vinylex Protectant (by Lexol blue spray bottle) this stuf is REALY great, wish I had discovered it much earlier!!

Depends on what size bottle you buy, it's a littlebit more expensive than European brands here, so I think in the USA the prices will be fair!

I use Hide Food (it actually is has Bentley, the car maker on the label) Great stuff, professional grade stuff. You can get it from www.autogeek.net. here

It is now called Connolly Hide Care Conditioner, because some idiot decided to eat the **** and there was a lawsuit and the FDA got involved .

Yeah, it's good stuff... for boots and shoes. In my experience, Lexol leaves a greasy film on whatever you put it on for days. After those first few days of greasiness it then becomes sticky. And then talk about the dust magnet!

Just 2 more cents,

I like the Zaino product. I do not care for a shine on leather. I prefer the matte look of the original finish.

I think a pretty decent size bottle of LEXOL is like $10 at Pep Boys, maybee a little more but its not too expensive. When you first apply it is greasy, you have to let it soak into the seats for about an hour or so and then your ready to go.

Tanner's Preserve leather conditioning cream. Recomended by all major automobile manufacturers. Available at Wal-Mart.

Tanner's Preserve Leather Cleaner & Leather Conditioner are recommended by Eagle Ottawa, the leading supplier to the U.S. auto industry. Eagle Ottawa has been making leather since 1865, so they know how to take care of it.

Big question: Thinking about getting a set of leather seats out of a 95Z...Theres no tears or cracks in the leather, but from the pictures the leather looks like its hardened up a bit. If i were to use one of the 'better' leather conditioners mentioned in this thread would it make the leather soft again?????

It should. The seats I have in my car now sat outside for almost 6 months before I bought them. I used an entire bottle of Meguairs super duper top of the line w/ Aloe stuff on the front seats. I just gooped the stuff on nice and thick and let it soak in. After about 2 weeks the seats looked brand new again.

you can grab lexol at some advance auto parts stores. we had some come in at our store, but they discontinued it a month later. some other stores in my area still carry it, but i dont know for how long. waiting to try it out myself (picked up the cleaner and the conditioner)

Lexol is awesome stuff after one treatment on my seats it was noticeably softer. Ive used meguiars and armor all and will never go back for leather care. When i used the cleaner i couldnt believe how much stuff was on the seats i couldnt see. It doesnt leave anything behind. Meguairs and armor all never cleaned them very well and all they did were make my seats slick. The lexol gives it more of a factory feel.

Also if there are any people that cant stand the shine that armor all or any other brands put on your dash or any where else. Try out the meguairs interior detailer it has no shine and does a incredible job cleaning ive never found a better cleaner for the interior.

We used to sell it at our Dealership (Cadillac). Recently we've had difficulty locating a reliable distributor for Lexol and switched to Meguiars. Both are excellent IMHO. I have had a few people disappointed we no longer have the Lexol. We retailed it at $11.99 a bottle, but it can be had for significantly less if you find a place that carries a lot of those type products.

Are you getting mrmikes leathers? I have a custom set from them. They come with Lexol. You can find it at Pep Boys.

I used Armor All the other week on the ebony seats I picked up. Stuff worked great. A bit better than Meguiar's I think. As far as being the best though, I couldn't tell you. Those two are the only ones I have ever used. Here's a pic of its cleaning and conditioning magic...

Another big quesiton: Would leather conditioner/cleaner clean these seats:

(dont want to buy them if their gona stay dirty)
Hmmm.. I don't think it would completely get rid of that. Maybe if you found some fabric/vinyl spray dye that nearly matched and just misted it on there. That along with half a bottle of a really good leather conditioner and they could possibly turn out ok. Good luck.
