4Th Gen console in 3Rd Gen Trans Am

Hi everyone,

I've been reading at see its possible to get the 4th gen seats in a 3rd gen car. Also the door panels if you modify. Well does anyone know if the 4th gen center console will fit or will you have to swap out the whole dash? Please help. Will it fit up to the dash simular to the old one?

Thanks
Kevin

Ive got a 4th gen 6 speed console out of a TA in my formula. You know those two screws inside the console underneath the lid? Well, those will even line up with the fourth gen console. It looks great. No pics though, sorry.

Hi there,

Thanks for the reply!!!!!!!!!!! What year is your formula? Did you use
your radio and a/c control console? OR did you use the new one? I have to get
a new console and i might as well get a new cool one. I thought about getting
the monsoon radio out of one. It would be great if the radio console will
work as well. If mot thats ok alos.

Thanks very much!

No, I only have the console itself. Although I would like to find a way to use the Radio section also. I dont even know if it would go in there, I havent really even looked at one that closely.

The cool thing about the console is that it is all plastic and doesnt have any of that rubber material that always ends up peeling back and coming apart. Also has a cup holder!

My Formula is an 88. I am currently working on an 89 Formula though, it should be done in a few months.

FormulaJoe your email doesnt work. I would like to see pictures if you wouldnt mind send some regular prints to me. I would gladly pay for the stamp to send them. I want to do this too. I had thought about it but someone on the board said it wouldnt work so I never bothered.

I will see if I can get some pics. I dont know why they said it wouldnt work.. Mine went in perfectly, like I said, the two srew holes in the rear inside the console compartment even lined up perfectly.. I got it at an fbody salvage; I went there to get a 5speed console shifter plate (for 6speed swap) and the guy didnt have one and he told me that he had a 4th gen 6speed console that would work and he let me take it out to the car to try it out and it worked so I bought it ($100 dollars).

Its a tight fit up underneath the radio, but I just pushed it forward a little and bolted it down.

Oh yeah, I just remembered, the fourth gen unit has a plastic "tab" that protrudes forward and in the fourth gen car, it srews down somewhere.

I just cut this out and it slid it in. It fit perdectly.
