Kandy Apple Red!!! For those who care, when I get it home this weekend and get some better pics Ill explain the story of events through this ordeal. Enjoy. (Btw Kandied, the RAII hood is just for you cuz you love it oh-so-much)

Sorry they arent the best I know, but it was just painted today and was still in the booth (no wetsanding or buffing yet either). I just figured I'd share because Ive been waiting so patiently for so long and now that the deadline to get my car was overshot by almost 4 months, these will be the few I get this year...snow is coming! I know you all have your opinions on the hood (and wheels...which are going soon dont worry). So say what you want, just dont hate toooo much

yes the car looks simply bad ***.... the only thing id change is id change the ram air hood for a 4 inch cowl hood ....

in my opinion the ram air hood only looks good on the TAs... but there are a couple cases ware the ram air hood along with a hi rize spoiler looks pretty good but the coul hood in my opinion looks 10 times better.

never the less man your car looks bad ***... i love the color man

The grille goes in afterwards, and the headlight buckets usually get painted afterwards also.

Yep, I have a new grille for it..but Im leaving the buckets as is...after all this IS a sport coupe, so Im keeping them painted

Thanks for all the comments guys, and I know that the RAII hood is so controversial with many of you, but meh. You cant really see it in any of the pics but I have the hawks 5in. spoiler out back to compliment the front...and the door handles are shaved as well. Thanks again guys

personally I love your car. I usually don't like the RAII hood but looks nice on your car, and as for the headlight buckets needing to be painted black, I think that would ruin your cars look. I don't like the headlight buckets painted usually I think it dates the cars. once that paint gets sanded and buffed you will stop traffic.

Thanks again everyone, your opinions do help alot...and as for wheels Im really considering the 18" Irocs....I think they'd look a little better than the snypers on my car. I gotta go back down to the shop today to drop off some weatherstripping so Ill get some spoiler shots...maybe a side shot if its out of the booth

looks freaking sweet, can't wait to see it wetsanded and buffed.

The Ram Air hood doesn't look too shabby either, isn't my taste but that doesn't matter any

What rims you looking at getting?

Jeff- all in all the whole job was about 5000, but included the following

-New front and rear bumpers (old ones were sc type and spidered)
-New front gfx
-New windshield
-Removed rear wiper/sprayer units
-Door handles were covered up
-And as they found out, when they took the gfx off there were some rust patches here and there so they got rid of all rust!!
-Dents and dings pulled and smoothed
-Weatherstripping
-Hawks 5inch spoiler
-Then you have the paint, which was pricey of course

For the amount of work that was done, it probably should have cost more (Im talking labor wise here) but my boss was the one who set this up with his buddies shop so that helped. It really shouldnt have taken as long as it did because when they got to the primer stage, the man who was working on the car decided that the price we decided on 'wasnt enough' and figured that he wouldnt make money on it. So rather than finish my car and be done with it, he basically let it sit for almost 2 months, lying to me each time I went down to look at it and made excuses up. Well I filed a complaint to the better business bureau after I found out that he was acting highly unprofessional...not much happened but it did kick his *** into gear to get it done and it took all but 2 weeks to go from some final primer to being done. Im a little mad that it took that long, but with the results that I have...Ill live

well it does take time but for that price it is a great deal what type of paint did he use? is it true 3 stage candy?

from some of what i have seen they can cost up to 15k for candy paint since it is a one shot kinda deal you mess up the candy and its back to the sand paper.

car looks geat can;t wait to seemore complete pics:hail:

thanks jeff. It is a true tri-stage, I had a gold metallic base (really ugly color though) and then a few coats of the candy on top of that, and finally the coats of clear...Ill find out tomorrow how many coats are on for sure when I pic it up. All was HOK paint

Took the words out of my mouth...or fingers...LOL

I think the car looks great man, the color was a great choice, going with the gold base really sets the candy apple red off, it does away with the purple hue that it can sometimes take on when sprayed over silver. As far as the RA hood, if you dig it, **** on what others think,if you haven't notice there are a few members that will find things to nitpick about even the most beautiful car because it does not suit there opinion of what looks right. If you want to paint it pink with green headlights buckets, do a 2" lift with 14" wheels and mud tires out back with glass packs, go for it, it is your car, you WILL get laughed at, but hey...LOL

I understand that he asked for opinions, and I am not slaughtering anyone for giving their opinion. Its just that nolan said he hates to pick apart people's cars, but in almost every opinion post he makes, does just that as if it was his car. I dunno, maybe its just cause its online, but it always comes off as if opinions are facts, as if to say "You did it wrong, you should have done this, this, and that" rather than an actual opinion. But maybe thats just what me reading it wrong

I know that sometimes when you ask for opinions you get some negative feedback, but when every post you read by some guys is, "well it's nice but you should have done this", you begin to think that they believe there opinion is fact.

Can I say it gives me a hard on?

Love the paint color. Ram air looks frickin sweet also.

looks like you did what I have planned for a year down the road. I'm going to concentrate on my engine & drive train first & then body afterwards.

Is that a functional ram air?

Maybe you should post pics over at www.mnfbody.com

I'm sure the guy's over their would love to see it.

Engine: one composed of various metals
Parks 911 - Ill check it out for sure...gotta mingle with the locals now that my car isnt so dull anymore. The hood is functional, but unfortunatly its feeding air to a puny 305. Im taking the oppisite route of you and decided to have 'show' before any 'go'....but hopefully Ill get on that part soon enough (its tough balancing a budget with college n such) Any pics of your car? Id love to see em.

I wanted to do the Performance mods first. That way the body & paint won't get all beat up from carelessness. I might do some body work before all the performance mods, but paint will wait till after the engine for sure.
I know exactly what your talking about balancing a budget. I have 2 kids that take priority. I was wanting to sell them on eBay to earn some more funds for the project, but someone told me it was illegal to do that. :nono:

About my car?
Right now it is just a basic RS. It is my 3rd. Camaro that I've owned & hopefully I can get this one done & keep it for awhile. I was actually looking for a Formula when I saw this RS, I couldn't pass it up. They more or less gave it to me. The pic below is the day I got it. If you look close I'm sure you can still see the for sale sign in the window.

Very nice paint job man! Just...........wow dude. That paint is just awesome. Obviously the wheels have to go...lol! Not a big fan of the hood myself, but it's your car, and overall.....wow man. Hood or not that car is a 10 when you change the wheels.

As far as all the negativity on the post you might get....read the quote at the bottom of my sig.
