When you dropped your cars, any problems afterwards?

I want to get Eibach Sportline springs to drop my car a bit. But I'm afraid that problems will result. What should I be concerned about? What shocks should I get to prevent the car from bottoming out and all that stuff?

Hi,
Don't worry about dropping your car. As long as you don't lower your car more than the height of the Sportline kit you will be ok to use KYB shocks/struts.

If you decide to go any lower, I would reccomend Koni's. Also make sure that your bump-stops are in good working order. You may have to get smaller ones since your car will be lower.

But what I would do is buy springs from Global West and cut them to my specifications. Doing this, you can order much tougher springs than the Eibachs. I think the Eibachs are rated at 500lbs in the front...well you can order Global west psrings up to a 100lbs. I would reccomend about 700lbs for your applications. I forgot the wight spec. on the back springs but you can ask Global West. This is the best way to go and you car WILL NOT bottom out.

Thanks

I dropped my car with Jamex springs and had no problems. If you are concerned about bottoming out you may want to consider the ProLine series of Eibach springs. If I remember correctly the SportLine is lower than the ProLine so the ProLine may work better for you.

For shocks you cant go wrong with Koni or Bilstien. If you are on a budget KYB is the ticket. They are $50 each for the front and $17 each for the rear.

I used Jamex as well, but they no longer sell in the United States. The Jamex are 660lb/in in the front and I forget what the rear is. In my opinion, the rear sits a little too low, but I've got 100lbs of stereo equipment in the trunk, so it's not their fault! Even with that much weight I never bottom out. I also have p255 50 zr16 tires on all 4s and have had absolutely NO tire rub whatsoever even under full lock.

I once heard that dropping your car will affect cooling. Is this true. I just replaced my air dam and I'm at stock height; and yesterday, I went under the car and found that the new air dam was shaved off a little.
