Which is better these days?

I'm going to have the T/A painted a platinum very soon. I was wondering if it was better to do a seperate clear coat for do an integrated clear coat.

What would be the pros and cons of both?

Transmission: 6speed from an unidentified 4th gen. ask me, ill tell you.
ive always heard that the 2 seperate layers was better. This way any sratches in the clear can be buffed or wet sanded out without changing the actual color. Im not positive if this is posible with a color/ integrated clear.


ps. your car is sweet. i second keepin that color.

Well I kinda thought the base clear was better. The idea that scratches can be buffed out of a clear seals the deal for me. I'm going bas/clear for the T/A.

And the camaro is staying the same color. It will not change. New paint is for the T/A. It's starting to oxidize a bit on the roof.

in my opion base/clear is the way to go. it will look alot better in the long run.

That's a new one on me!

Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but are you talking about a single-stage paint vs a two-stage (base coat/clear coat) paint?

I guess I have never heard it referred too as that

Anyway, the base/clear is by far a better paint system than the single stage. It has the ability to withstand more abuse, and retain a great shine. It has more depth for the color, and is more resistant to staining.

By the way, Nice lookin' Camaro:hail:

As far as color sanding and buffing a single stage paint, you can get- away with it on a NON-metallic color only. So if you get a sag, run, or dirt in a single-stage metallic color, your pretty much screwed.
