SS hood owners- I've got a question...
Alright, the hood is on and it looks killer.
I purchased it from ASCD- great company by the way. It's going for paint and stripes within the next week and half. Here's my qustion: Did you guys cut off the fiberglass blocking the air inlet in the front, as well as the fiberglass that obstructs the cowl? If so, have you had any issues with rain? Also, does anyone out there have any type of airbox setup for their SS hood? Feel free to overload this little corner of cyberspace with images of your SS beauties...

Great looking billet grill there 84customz28... I was considering have the plastic grill that came with my hood chromed, but after brainstorming for the last half hour I had an awesome idea arise!!
I don't think I'll cut open the air inlet on the front of the scoop after all...
It probably wouldn't be perfectly legal, but I can't really see the harm in it...
Ok, Ok, I stop beating around the bush. I just thought of having a piece of a mirror custom cut to fill in the air inlet opening at the front of the scoop. I think the way it would reflect my stripes would be completely awesome!!!

That looks fantastic.!
I think I'll experiment with the mirror idea, but if it doen't look right i'm definately going with a billet grill. By the way, how narrow are the billet pieces that you guys used and where did you get them from? Also, ChevyKen, did you cut the cowl part of your hood open in the back? If so do you have a picture? Thanks for all the replies guys...

Thanks!
Nope, mine is still stock in the back. Haven't seen one with a cut out, and I can't quite picture it looking right?
The grille is cut out of a GMC Yukon grille that I bought on ebay for purpose. It worked out nicely! Im not sure exactly how thick the bars are, but Im going out in the garage later, so I'll measure them and let you know.

camaro05, our Z28's rea going to look really similar when you get an SS hood installed
.....I did all the paint any body work myself....so...I did it for basically nothing.
My grill is actually made for a newer style mustang. I bought it off of ebay for about $30 bucks. I had to do alot of measure and trial and error...but I got it to fit pretty good.

the mirror idea might be bad, might blind some one going down the highway.
Yeah, I thought of that too. I'll probably end up going with a billet grill, but I'm definately going to try the mirror idea at least to see what it would look like. With a mirror there, mounted at the right angle, it would give the appearance of a continuation of the white Heritage Stripes that are going to be painted on. At least I could use the mirror at car shows if I wanted to. My website: www.cardomain.com/memberpage/638668
It'll be 6 big ones to paint my hood and front nose. This price includes the stripes. The hood cost me $490.00 including shipping from ASCD. I think I'll have the cowl part cut out. I think it would be great to look at my shiny
engine while i'm driving.
Hopefully I don't have any problems with rain... On a different note, I notice that three of you have the TT2's. Do you guys know if the 17x9.5's with 5.5in backspacing will fit both front and rear without spacers?
Thanks- Josh aka camaroguy21

all of them should come with the grill....the reason I made a billet grill is because the grill they include is cheap, thin...and it isn't made with quality.
