Pics of my new 90 Formula 5 Speed

Got a 90 Formula 5 Speed as part of a trade. Needs some work but will be nice as a beater. Getting the 88 Formula painted Viper Red in a few weeks, can't wait to see it all one color.

And this is my tuning system for programming GM Chips, probably getting replaced with the laptop I ordered though.

Ya, I just got a TPI 305 motor for it too. Going to try and pull the TBI motor and put the TPI one in this week.
Probably get a 9bolt 3.45 Posi Disc rear end too.

Well, the 9 bolt and the motor are mine, putting in the disc rear and TPI fuel pump tomorrow.
Need to get a cherry picker and yank the motors.
I'll probably have the only 90 Formula with a MAF TPI setup.

Im confused you sold the one that was gonna be bad *** and now u get another that needs work? Then now your painting the other formula what was wrong with the 86 or did you just get bored of it ? I thought ur 86 seemed like a keeper I also think about getting rid of my 90 sometimes cause im sinking so much money into it and i could have a new gto with 400 hp if i didnt throw all my cash in the thirdgen. Altho my thirdgen should have over 400hp when im done I still dont see it being worth much but fbody motorsports does want 26k for there 91 lol . O well i guess its not about the cash value its more of a sentamental value to me.

I already found a 3.45 rear end as well as a complete 305TPI motor. It's coming out of my friends 88 GTA 5 speed car. His T5 is in my 88 Formula, we did a trans swap last year.
He's going to sell the GTA as a rolling chassis so I am buying the rear and the motor and putting the drum rear from the 90 into his GTA so it can still roll.

I sort of lost interest in the 86, which is the car I said I'd never get rid of. Offered it a friend a month ago and he took it.

Then tonight another friend said he picked up this 90 formula and I asked him t to bring it by, and we started talking and I ended up traded him a set of TrickFlow heads for this 90 Formula and to do the body work and paint the 88 Formula. It should be near show car quality. I forget what type of paint but I think it's like 3 base and 2 clear and 3 stage polish, or something like that, I remember a couple of 3's and a 2 when we were talking. It's going to be the brightest red available which I think is Viper Red. He's painting his brothers 85 Trans Am drag car the same color at the same time. I can't wait to see it done. been driving around for 18 months with an unpainted hood on the car.

I am hoping to have the 90 on the road this weekend. that way I'll have some transportation while my 88 is being prepped and painted.

Now I have to go over all my notes and try and remember all the TPI wiring stuff, shouldn't be too difficult once I start. I knew almost everything about TPI wiring back in 01/02 when I did the 86.

Another project, they never end!

I am looking forward to seeing a finished product from you though. You and your buddies seem to be always hacking up cars and trading stuff back and forth, nice to see something finished.

I guess I just like taking stuff apart.
The 82 LT1 project we did a couple of years ago is coming back in a few weeks for some more enhancements. Bilstein shocks and struts, some spohn parts, and some other misc parts. It's the black 82 T/A with the complete Autometer gauge cluster, Firehawk wheels, baer brakes, corbeau seats, etc...
I am looking forward to working on that car again.

If I didn't have ZR1's on my 88, that rear would be going into that car. The 3.73 gears I have in the 88 give me a top speed of about 130mph.

I have no idea what the 90 has in the rear, it has rear drums and those have to go, I can't stand drums.

no project will ever be really "finished". Technically, my 88 is finished, for the time being. there are always upgrades you want to do, but can't do it due to finances.
The ultimate 3rd gen to me is one that is fitted with a ZF tranny, LT5 motor, really big brakes, etc... Basically a Formula Firehawk with an LT5.
