Painting Your Brakes...
Anyone here painted thier calipers/drums? is so, any pics? I was thinking about doing this to my 91 RS, does it affect braking in any way? Also, what color would look good on a black car, and where could I get the paint? Thanks for your help in advance.

Im painting my calipers red and my rotors gray just mask off where the pads touch. Use hi heat paint vht sells its great stuff. Just do you self a favor and take everything off the car so u dont get paint on the hoses or pins and make sure everything is clean and rust free.

TPI383, check your pms...
I'd go some sort of silver/grey or if you've got some stripe or something on your car, you might want to try that color to help accent it.

Paint them a color like the "cool" guys and go with a color that is as opposite as you can get.. I.E. yellow calipers on a black car or green calipers on a red car
eww no don't do that...I repeat DO NOT ****-a-fy your car. Paint them black or a deep dark color. Never anything bright so you can see them from a mile away...there drum brakes...

Here's a picture of my painted drums. I think black is the only color to go with if you paint them.

I used VHTs "Cast Aluminum". They don't look like rust when up close, but they don't stand out too much either.

I used high temp satin black....wouldn't go with anything else. Just depends what look yoru going for. If I had some big, nice after market brakes...it would be a different story. With the stock set-up....that's really not much to show off...

Ya I painted I got the lip machined off the inside of my drums, rebuilt the rear, and then painted them. You can see them in a pic on here - http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...page_id=756169

Originally I went with high temp red, but as time went by they get dirty and stain...even darken over time, so the second go around I used automotive paint. Joe painted all my suspension and brake components with it! Same red as on the body! Its so much easier to keep clean now! All this was done with the disc brake rear swap! We removed everything to paint them and did a silicone fluid upgrade at the same time with new Earls stainless lines!
But for referance in this thread...here is the old drum set up!

i think you went over board with your car but to each his own, or i guess in this case her. I'm using that ceramic paint that you use a brush to apply its designed specifically to paint breaks, i'm doing red.
