cloudy iroc wheels

after cleaning my iroc rims with rim cleaner, they seem to have a cloudy film on them that will not go away. is this b/c it ate the clear coat off or is it something else? please let me know you have any info on this

I belive that what your looking at is the clear coat that its been damage by what ever you sprayed on. Deagreaser will do that and some wheel cleaners if you applie them with the rim hot it will clowd the clear coat. Now I dont know if this is fixable like with a polisher or something. I know that if you take the coat of the rim it will shine again. how to do it is in a lot of posts all around so just search for them.
hope it helps & I bet youll get some other ideas.

I would have to agree. I imagine that whatever you used damaged the clearcoat.

There are several threads about refinishing and polishing wheels if you're interested. I'd highly recommend it!

look at the "polished rock tread" or bulletboys tread on polishing wheels. you have to sand em down 180 grit-220-3something- and 400, everything after 180 wet sand. then use a buffing wheel with some alumunum compound and they will look like glass.

if your wheels and clearcoat are still in good shape then you can just strip the clearcoat off them and polish them just with a buffer and will look alot better....even without sanding them.

I recently used Simple green on my 16" trans am wheels and it looks like what your discribing. I didnt use them on hot wheels but with hot water and that must of done it. I think you may beable to polish the cloudyness off but i never tryed it myself. I gave it alittle spit rub with my finger and seemed to remove the streaks...so maybe a rewash will take the cloudyness off bepending on what you used and if its bad or not.
