Anyone have pics of ZBRA's Blue 91/92 Z28?

I remember this guy, ZBRA, had this pretty modified 91 or 92 Z28. It was blue, had a SS hood and silver ZR1's. It was also in GMHTP at one time. Since the Readers Rides section is down, I can't search that.

So, anyone have any pics or info?

Actually I own the car now. I bought it probably 3 years ago from ZBRA. I am at work but I can probably dig up a recent picture or two. Also it never had an SS hood on it, maybe some day .

I thought for sure it had a SS hood on it. Oh well.

I do remember him selling it now that I think about it... Some pics would be cool. How about some info on the setup and how it runs and stuff too.

Man, that thing is sweet. I think the silver stripes is what made me think it had a SS hood.

The only thing I'd do is replace the red MSD cap with a Standard Ignition Blue Streak cap. It'd match the wires.

Damn, that thing is sweet

The stripes is the only reason why I haven't put an SS hood on it yet. I don't like stripes on SS hoods so when I have money to paint the whole car I will then put the hood on it.

I agree about the cap. It's one of those things I haven't got around to yet. I only have about 100 miles on the new motor so there is still the small stuff that needs to be done.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I took those pictures in the fall. That was the last time it has been out. As soon as I finish the interior I will have it out again, hopefully soon.

What is the offset on those ZR1s and what size spacers are you running? I'm assuming they are Skulte spacers and 9.5" wide wheels...

Also, what headers are you running?

It has a 4th gen rear end with no spacers. The front spacers are 'Vette Brakes billet aluminum units. I believe they are 1.75"

The Wheels are OEM 98 SS 17 x 9s. They have been on the car since late 98. That was before everyone had spacers. I did a lot of measuring and searching to get that set up right.

Also the headers are SLP 1 3/4" ceramic coated headers.

what type of angle(if any) is on those plugs? I am running AFR's also with SLP 1 3/4" headers and I have serious plug issues. The boots on my wires are about 1/4" away from the header tubes on about 3 of my plugs. I think my heads are just angle plug design. my old stock heads had straight plugs and I had no issues at all

Those are "L98" style Angle plugs. At least that's the way AFR advertises them. The headers fit great and I don't have any issues changing out plugs but two plug boots on the passenger side are very close to the headers. I just put protective sleeves on those two boots and haven't had any problems.

you must be be referring to plugs 6 and 8 right? i think those the ones that are bad for me too. I also opted for the plug boots as well. What are the engine specs if you dont mind telling.

Any reason for those over a long tube design?

Also, I too will agree that car is what made me like ZR1s on third gens. I was 16 or 17 the first time I saw the pictures from GMHTP article.

Yes those are the plugs that are close. Actually my setup is very close to your's. Forged bottom end, AFR's, Pro Magnum 1.6rr's, Miniram, etc, etc, etc....

Did you just do a mail order tune from Ed Wright or did you take your car to him?

I have a 6-spd, not sure if it's possible to use long tubes. I don't have access to a good exhaust shop so I stuck with what I knew I could bolt up myself.

I chose to get a mail order chip from Ed Wright. That was my only option at that point in the build. I didnt have time to learn how to burn proms and I didnt have the money to put into a DFI setp at that time. Plus, I needed something that could as least run the engine so I could get it around town to various shops to do work on the car. I still dont know how its gonna work out since I had my engine put togheter and had to take it al back apart again due to a bad crank My engine should be going in within the week. What size AFR's are you using? and what are you cam specs if you dont mind me asking.

I went with the 195 AFR's, 74cc flat milled to 64cc. I am currently using the same cam that was in it when I bought the car, TPIS ZZ409. The old motor ran very well with that cam so I decided to stick with it for now.
