Going from 84 to 91/92 Z28 body style....

Well, really any year from 82-90. Has anybody done this? There has to be somebody. I was just wondering about how much it cost to do the swap. Rear spoiler as well. Thanks for any leads and or info.

Chris

I did!! I turned my 86 IrocZ into a 92 Camaro. It cost me a bit. since I already had a iroc hood, all I had to do was replace the Iroc hood louvers with the new 91-92 Z28 hood louvers which ran me about $300, then I had to replace my stock wing with the 91-92 high rise z28 wing which runs another $300 or you can get one from jeggs for like $170 or so...then I had to replace the ground effects with the newer style which can cost you quite alot of money, close to $1000+ new...but I got mine used for $400!well after all that, with a few mods I got a good paintjob it looks just like a 92. I still kept my stock iroc rims because they look awesome but other than that it looks flawless. Right now Im customizing the interior and putting a new engine in it. Pretty much you can get all the pieces from classic industries, but I got mine from classic industries(hood louvers & emblems), jeggs(high rise z28 wing) and ebay(ground effects).hope this helps you... just one thing though, I belive your front end may be different, so I dont know if the ground effects will fit right, you may need to replace that. But if you have any specific questions you can email me and I will give you a price and such on everything.

Actually, it might be a bit more involved for you than that. The 84Z has a slightly different nose shape. More squarish and the turn signal pockets are different. I'm not sure but you might have to change the nosepiece.

It's not all that involved. I've done 2 cars now in this sort. I did my 84 Z28 H.O into an 87 body style and I'm finishing now an 87LT into a 91-92 Z28. Your 84 nose cover will have to go, so will your rear bumper cover. You can simply swap out the door gfx but when you get to the rocker panel ones you're going to have to redrill the mounting holes. Toss that 3 piece spoiler too. And of course filling in those mounting holes, sanding, painting and making it look like the holes where never there is fun. Then you can mount your new hi-rise spoiler and it will look sweet. On the front fenders you're probally going to have to drill mounting holes as well for the front lower gfx. Hope some of this helps. I have pictures if you need to see them.

yeah what he said,

i did the same thing to my 86 cpe. it had the same ugly bumpers as your 84z does. i had to replace the front and rear bumpers. i had to drill holes for the rocker panels and the door panels. for the wing, i had to bondo up the holes from the old spoiler and drill new ones. i got all my stuff from a local junyyard, except i bought the wing from classic industries. paid alot for everything, something near a 1000. i painted them all myself cuz i was painting the car that summer anyway, kinda good timimg. i think the hardest part was to get the holes drilled so it matches up alright. filling the spoiler holes with bondo is easy, im only 19 and i did it. the spoiler i bought came with a little template so those holes were kinda easy, although its not centered completely, its very hard to notice.

good luck!
