500*F engine paint should be fine, as long as you prepped/cleaned it properly before you sprayed when the engine warms up the paint should bake on nicely.

yea thats what i figured....i'm back to square one now tho...first off, i bought some pinstriping tape to tape off the ribs, then i taped around the the set of ribs...because i'm going to be painting down in the groves...i got a coat of primer on, let it get tacky, and i went out to check it, and the F**KING pinstrip tape shriveled up, so i just ripped the whole thing off....my new idea is i'm gonna mill the ribs down so they are perfectly smooth, then just tape around it, and paint everything and just wipe off the paint on the shiney smooth upper part of the ribs...plus it'll be like polished aluminum too...i think it'll look real nice..what do you guys think?

tape off the area and just let all the ribs alone then you spray a coat of pant over the whole thing and before it starts to dry take a rag with some solvent in it and just wipe the paint from the top of the ridges and then let it dry.

i can't do that...becaseu i put a little paint down in the groove and tryed to wipe it off with thinner and it didn't work because i just wanted to see if i could go that route.....its too rough of a surface....the milling isn't that big of a job...we got a big table at school, you just put the work piece in, take a few thousandths off, and i'm good to go..it'll take 10 minutes at the max, and i think it'll look real good too..
