Been doing some Polishing.

I know these are not a very popular wheel, but it is one that I have always liked. They are 1985-1987 Trans Am/ Formula 16x8.

After much sanding and polishing, I have found that what has worked the best for the final compound has been, Simichrome Polish, it's a paste in a tube, the size of a small tooth paste tube.

I had been using Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish, but it was leaving a haze that I just couldn't get rid of. Simichrome does not give me that problem. See for yourslf, and you be the judge.

Tell me what you can see in the reflections.

I like!
Now I have to go and buy that polish and try it!
I thought it was just me thinking that about Mother's.

Good job!

Thanks everyone,

I had striped and repainted the gray, and clear coated the wheels back in 1989, and at the time, they looked good, but as time went on, the clear was getting chipped, and I wanted to have a little more sparkle, so I polished them.

Since I repainted the wheels, the gray was still in good shape, and I didn't want to repaint just that, I didn't strip them this time, but just sanded all the clear off, on the areas only that was going to be polished.

Here is a before shot, about 10 years ago, still with the clear on them, that I put there.

And after,

Leon.

WOW! That is exactly what your car needed with those rims on there. I really liked your car before, but I really, really like it now! Thanks for the tip on the Mother's vs. Simichrome. I've been wanting to try the Simi and now I have a reason to do so...
