I'm hacking up most of the engine bay as it is but, questioning retaining the A/C box and rest of the crap 'just in case' I ever want ti use it. It's rare, if ever, that I use A/C but I can't decide.

I actually got over my case of broken-*** and did some work to the turd this week.

Here's a reason or two why the headlight mod is kind of on hold...

Peeled all the paint off the strut towers and fraim rails... cold galv treated untill the rest is done an some epoxy sealer gets laid on.
Cruise unit, coolant and wiper fluid tanks are being relocated so I shaved the 'mount bumps' off....

The relays are being relocated under where the eventual airbox will be in a 'compartment'...

I voted for "Wheres the hood" mainly because I couldnt see where the hood had gone and i was curious....

But I would do the A/C delete to keep it clean. Thats what windows are for.

Considering where you live, it might be ok. But here in Houston, if you ever decide to actually drive your car, you would keep the A/C.

I like my engine bays with full accessories as opposed to hacked down ones with no options. I say keep the A/C.

I said A/C delete cause I personally like the clean look. I did one better and removed the whole hvac system. The area where the blower box used to be is now home for the MSD box.I figure that it's a summer ride only so I don't need heat and the A/C components under the hood look *** aweful.

Leave the a/c out. Mine is still in my car because its working and i havent modified anything in my engine bay yet. As soon as i have a reason to the a/c is coming out. It's just not necessary

I appreciate the input guys.
This is almost as much of a pita decision as the doorhandles.
Keep in mind... the white is going g-bye. That is what is making it hard to decide. The full box won't be as obvious with the new color but yet.. it's still there and bulky and throws off the symmetry of the firewall. Yet.. not having the a/c comp does the same for the engine.
I've still pleanty of undehood work left before final prep but, I'd like to have things ready to bolt back up as well.

Good to see a few get the hood joke...I still swear I have one

Time, funding and indecision aside.. I will finish the turd..

haha yeah i cracked up when i saw the wheres the hood option.......i say axe it, here in the ville its never really all that hot and if it is i know your not gonna be driving the good car, thats why we have the beaters to drive around and run the crap outtve on crappy days.

im actually considering losing the ac in mine as well when i do the engine swap, one less thing i have to worry about hooking back up and i rarely use it anyways, plus like i said if its that hot, i shouldnt be driving the good car anyways...plus if you get rid of it you can help me rid my car of it when the time comes

anyways looks like you did what i was going to do, cut and fill the holes where the over flow gos and the washer bottle... so might as well smooth out the firewall
+ you just hid all the relays so i kno, im pertty sure to say that you wont be keeping the A/C once you start smooth'n the bay out there just ant no stoping

i'd say a/c delete only because here in the fall it's cold and it's nice to have heat but last year i couldn't get my heat working for the life of me so i got rid of it all. if it doesn't make power or serve a beautiful purpose it isn't in the engine bay, but that's the difference between a "toy" and something you may actually have to depend on to get somewhere.

I say keep the AC. You'll miss it when you're stuck at a stoplight in 90-degree weather with your t-tops off...

If this is a toy, delete it. If you plan on using the car for anything besides cruising and/or showing, keep it. Your girl will appreciate it, too.

Well let me tell ya from experience. I took out my A/C 10 years ago and for the past 3 years I have wanted it back and have been looking for a parts car to get a complete set up from. So if you do take it out remember to save it all and yes even after several years of looking at it in the corner save it for the day because it will come.

I've got the new hot mod for you that everyone is going to copy--so get on board now and be one of the first. Here's what you do: sawzall off most of your A/C box on the firewall, leaving only the part with the blower motor. Then, since you need a way for the air to get into the car... you use rain gutter for air transport and green tape to hold it on.

This pic was taken at Third Gen Fest this weekend (yes the car was parked with the hood up). I gave the owner a never-ending amount of crap, and he was a very good sport.

Holy crapola!!! That is dead up the look I am going for! Please tell me you have a few more shots so I can get an idea on the dimensions. I've got the green tape already That is definately rich lol

VU... that's a little too extreme for me. Heat is a must at the very minimum.. e'ville usually has a nice fall but, chilly.

Probably end up geting another a/c box from the junkyard and dicing it up to make and a/c delete box but... a/c is nice on the blue moon occasion. I'm not out to make a show car... just something nice to enjoy during the better months out of the year.

Just as another thought... is the.. I guess evaporator ?.. in something like an import smaller or compatable with our compresor/line/fittings ? I got to thinking... maybe the a/c box wouldn't be so bad if it weren't so massive an gaudy. If something from another car (like a crx or so... since they are tiny yet have blasting cold a/c) could fit in the a/c box and the box made more like the size of a non-a/c one.. it would be functional and look better....just random thinking..

any extra thoughts welcome....

Yeah man it wasn't a very easy decision to make.. trust me, I could really use the AC. I live in Las Vegas, temperature inside the car last week: 138 degrees. But hey, it's a track car that barely gets driven on weekends. But if you need heat then find a way to just get heat in that cabin and waste the rest of it... cleans up the engine a lot...
