Wetsanding

I am going to wetsand a few areas of my car..i was thinking anywhere from a 1500 to 2200 grit would do me good.
My question is can the scratches be buffed out by hand, and what would be a good polish to do so with?

I just painted my car and used 3M "Perfect It" polish. I'm no professional, but it worked pretty good.
