I am getting ready to paint the engine compartment before reinstalling drivetrain. The whole car is going to get painted after that. I need help deciding what color. The car is red now. I was thinking red again or black. The car has chrome ZO6 wheels. It will also have 91-92 gfx when done. Any pics would be very helpfull. Thanks....

 

Black is nice but i'm not a huge fan of either really with your combo i would run red but maybe a custom blended red opposed to a straight boring red, mix it up a bit

Since you like red or black I say go with a combo of both. One of my friends works at a paint shop that does all kinds of custom colors so I get to see alot of them. One of them I liked was Black Cherry which is pretty much a black base with red pearl. Depending on how much pearl they use they can control the effect. Very little pearl leaves you with a black paintjob that reflects red in the light, the more pearl you add the redder it will get until it turns to a shade of red as the base. The combo he mixed up looked dark red in the day and black at night unless light reflected off the paint then it reflected red. Looked cool as heck.

Sorry for the delayed response, here is Kandied91z's old car. It had candy apple red paint, with a silver base and other little touches added in, you might want to pm him to find out more.

Yeah i dont think he has been on the site in quite a while, if you check out his cardomain page there is a few shots of it in the sun...i am 99% sure that its just stock bright red.

 

Ive looked at all those pics. Even in the sun it still looks darker than factory bright red. Mine is bright red now. Ive even saw a thread where it had a before and after of his car. the after looked alot darker... think ive even read somewhere where he comments on dark red, but no exact color name. mayeb Ill get lucky and he will email me?
