convertible top cover

I'm getting ready for paint. Has anybody out there ever removed the upholstered vinyl section of the flip-up boot for the convertible top? I've removed all obvious fasteners but the upholstered piece is still stuck like glue. Any advice?

It is glued. It can be removed with heat, time and care. If you do not need to remove the cover I would not.
