Mudflaps? What do you think?
I have a 1988 GTA and I put black mudflaps on it that say Trans Am in white. I drilled holes for the mudflaps and now I don't know if I like them or not. I wish i wouldn't of put them on because they have done more bad then good. If I take them off then you would see some holes along with holes that were drilled in wrong places. What do you guys think?

i think mudflaps would look better on a car with no ground effects, opposed to a car with ground effects. when I got my formula, it had them on there already. they are functionable also..it sure does keep the mud and rocks from flapping onto your paint and such. but when I got the car back from the body shop, they were removed for body work and paint, and they look good with them off also. i like them both either way.. BUT it is a matter of preference..

I got my car, 88 T/A WS6 red with the black wheels of course, after my former aunt put a good bit of abuse on the exterior. but the most garring marks are behind the wheels.
my uncle said she drove it in the winter one year and that's what happened but since the front isn't even close to as bad as the rear, i would guess it'd be more accurate to say she didn't know how to keep her foot off the gas in gravel parking lots as i know it's even hard for me and i actually care what happens to it.
anyway, the point is that the shape of the car between the beltline and the ground effects, on applicable cars, causes that area to take a beating from rocks. Like behind my back wheels there's more chips than paint!
since normal car flaps are too narrow and thus look BAD from the rear since they don't cover the big tires we got some of the wide black plastic flaps made for 4x4s from the parts store. i don't mean like big rubber ones, they're basically the same as reugular car flaps, but they're just the right size for the 245s and they don't have any tacky writing on so you can barely tell they're on there. i haven't had one bad comment yet, and if anything it's something like 'i bet you're glad u put those on there.' or something like that. I'm really happy with them as i don't have to worry much about further rock chips on the exterior, and an added bonus, there's no more of the huge mud splashes i'd get from hitting a little puddle even very slow, even during wet or winter driving the car stays marginally cleaner.
so basically, my advice to anyone who ownes a car of any kind is to get some kind of mud flaps cos if u get the right kind u barely see em and i'd rather have one more piece of black plastic hanging on my car than mud all over it from hitting one puddle or more rock chips from hitting a road with that traction gravel junk.
my $ .02, get some kind of flaps, if u don't like em or don't benefit much, loose em, no harm done, $10 spent. cheapest appearnce mod yet.
