Before & After: My new 17x11 ZR1 Wheels! (56k Beware)
Greetings!
After 9 months of waiting, I finally purchased and installed my adapters, wheels and tires! I think that the car looks 1000% better than it did before.
The funny part is that I was expecting to have to "massage" the inner fender wheel to make those the 11" wide wheels fit, but it actually required very little adjustment.
Front: 17x9.5 ZR1, wrapped with Kumho low profile 275's
Rear: 17x11 ZR1, wrapped with BFG 315 drag radials
Let me know what you guys think.

Geez! What ever happened to the 3 pictures per thread rule?
How far do the rear wheels stick past the fender lip?

are you sure those are 245s on a 9.5 wheel , do you mean 275 . And the rears are wide as hell but they stick out way too far for my liking , they need to go in about an inch .

looks pretty hot.
what size spacer you use on the rear?
A wider spacer will make it easier to install fat tires, but also makes it stick out a tad much like it is on your car.
Looks like you have the shallow 11" rim with a 2" spacer.

275's in the front.
Thanks for all the compliments guys.
The rear tires stick out about 1/4" on each side with the 2" rear adapter. The company that I ordered the adapters from (skulte performance) would have exchanged them for free, but since I am putting in a 383 soon and buying a new rear end, I will just order one that's a quarter inch shorter than the adapters on each side.
Skulte Performance did an awesome job on the adapters and was very helpful on the phone. Their customer service is clearly top-notch, and I would recomend them to anyone who's going to need adapters. Check out their site at www.skulte.com
Now that I have all these new pictures, I need to get someone to make me a new sig!

... i'll get new rims someday) i was going to use, I needed a 1.25" adapter in the back... They would look soo much better if you were able to tub out the rear and make them sit exactly where u want them.. but that is a lot of money/work.Looking great tho man, glad to see u went through with it!

EDIT: Has anyone had or heard of a problem with the spacers breaking wheel studs like mine?

that wouldnt fix his problem. if the tires stick out 1/4" too far on 2" adapters, a 4th gen rearend would end with the same results.. ie, 4th gen rears are a total of 4" (IIRC) inches wider than 3rd gen rears (2" per side for those of you without calculators
).

Everyone I have talked to has said it was most likely because of the spacers. Since your getting a new rear end, get one for a 93-97 F-body. You shouldn't have to use spacers.

I would order a rear end that is a total of 3.5" inches wider.

Time for a adjustable PHR. I put 11 zr1's on my 4th gen and it was off side-to-side. An adjustable PHR will correct that as you can adjust the lateral position of the rear.
I would go with a 1.5" spacer in the rear, I run those on my thirdgen with 285's and it tucks in perfect.
2" is great for the front, but a little too much for the rear IMHO.

I agree that the rear tires stick out a little too far, but over all what a great look! Camaros should have come stock with wheels that size and style!

The only thing I would change besides tucking them under a bit would be black rims on your car. Would have gone really well with the stripes and headlight covers. Still really nice though!

not for nothing but i am runnign the same set up on mine. 17x11 with 315 drag radials w=using a 2" adapter. i dont know if you have gotten on the car yet but if you do you will notice that you are going to have to roll the fender lips. it starts to rub against the lip and starts cutting into the tires. my ride looks the same from the rear as yours does. like the way it sitsbut roll the lips

I was thinking about heating the metal with a torch first... but that scares me on the driver's side because of the fuel tank..

Hey man. Check out my site. If you are wondering how to tuck 315's, try 335's. I am not done yet, but if you wanna see how far they stick out now, I have a ton of pics. I cut the ribbed area out. And am gonna do a lot more. Keep trying, you will get them in.
Oh and in my opinion they look tucked to me. All good, don't listen to people that say they stick out a mile. Maybe 1/4" too far, MAX. and that is nothin. People relax, we are trying to stuff MASSIVE tires under these cars.

thats where all the pics of it are... just click the 2005 category - plenty of pics in there

the best way i found was to just keep working them in with a hammer... some strategic shots and some heat into where the frame is in the front of the wheel well will do the trick - but pull up the carpet in that area - the heat will get in there...

I would suggest you order a wider rear end and not use adapters. yep, good advise!
EDIT: Has anyone had or heard of a problem with the spacers breaking wheel studs like mine?
I think someone over tightened the lugnuts and stressed the studs the ONLY time I've seen studs break is after someone uses an impact gun to torque them down or they are extremely rusted. Factory torque specs for our cars is 100ft.lb. I'd never exceed 120ft.lb. even on a race application. Most impact air guns will crank out around 400ft.lb. I think this is what happened with yours.

Looks great! I love 17x11 ZR1's on 3rd gen camaros! Here's my GTA with 17x11, 315 BFG DR's, and a 4th gen moser 9"... no spacers... they sit just right... they could go in about 1" if I could get them there....
I'm thinking of swapping in a 4thgen rear. Seems to me I don't need spacers to run these rims with that rear, correct?
Btw, awesome car GTA91, please send some photo's of you're car or pics of swapping that rear in there to my email please. Thanks!
