glasstek.com makes a fiberglass stock flat hood. No ricerrific nonfunctional blisters on it.
I would love to see the jap hood made with the ducting. I believe the hood is designed as functional if you get the one from Japan. It is made as a road racer's hood so you can run ducts up to it to help with cooling. I would love to see it. I'd love to see it in carbon fiber for that matter. It would be a couple pounds lighter than fiberglass. I know that road racing is almost a taboo subject on this board but some of us like to turn for fun
The other pieces made on the site are amazing also. The modified 91-92 spoiler the functional front spoiler the amazingly well designed roll cage among other nice pieces. Someone should look into being an importer who lives on the west coast.

I'd like to see a low profile wide cowl hood. Harwood style but wide as a Jongbloed and about 1-1.5" high.

a few hoods i always thought might look good on a camaro are:
1: a long wide cowl (almost like jong bloe) with a small ram air on top of that. ive seen the style on some mustang hoods, and really liked it. i'll look for a pic.
2: the import style inverted cowl (not the japanease one)
3: not my style, but soemthign some people might like, and third gen nose might be able to pull off, the new corvette hood/nose scoop.
4: i really really liek the japanease hood. another vote for that :-D
1: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-...71903876QQrdZ1
this is almost what i was thinkign of, but not quite, obviously, the lines would be changed to flow with the camaro's body.

somethign liek this, once again, different lines for our body style.

the 1st one is nice on the mustang, i think it would be too large for a thirdgen however but with anything it depends on the build.
the 2nd one is very much like the japanese hood in it's own right, again it would depend on where you started the inverted section.
the 3rd one on the vette is very similar to the ultra z hood, just styled better to fit the car.
have any of you seen the tigershark corvette c5? it was designed and built here in michigan and it's sold as a upgrade kit basically for any c5. instead of posting a picture here is a link to several angles of the car showing some of the hood. this i think if done in the right proportion of the thirdgen would also look quite nice.
what do you think?

I've always liked the japanese/early 4th genfirebird type of inverted cowl hood. I'd love a functional one myself. Maybe a specifically made low profile shaker hood scoop could look awesome too, I haven't seen many on these cars. I'll never change a hood strictly for looks, I want something more behind it, so whatever I like is always functional. I plan on making my own hood once I get the chance to fiddle and learn to weld.

Your link didn't seem to lead to anything Jeff. I found a pic though with a quick google image search. Personally I agree it can be made to look at home on our cars.

1. Jongbloed(spelling)
2. The factory fiberglass hood(not sure of name)
3. Iroc
4. Z28 Blister
5. The Stock plain hood.
6. Harwood Cowl
7. Iroc-Z turbo hood
8. Big Block
9. SS hood
10. Ram air

You know that japanese hood on teh black and the blue camaro is almost identical to the hood my buddy has on his show car....Its a honda civic though, that one is identical to it only camaro version, i cant remember what brand of hood he had, i will try to find so info maybe they could be contacted with enough people who want it they could give production a try

more around $2,000 after shipping. it isn't the CF, that's great... it's the scary thought of never seeing your $2,000 and not knowing the quality of it. could be worth every penny. could be..

one thing to consider about cf if the non body color scares you off, is that cf can be painted so it looks stock, or it can be misted over so the cf pattern shows through (like the 04 comemoritive edition z06, the red on the cf hood shows the cf pattern), so there are options for painting them. of course, on a black car, bare cf looks good. also, i have found a company that makes different colors of cf, and can even do designs or letters in it. here is a link to the web site.

i was thinkin something like a Cowl hood and SS hood crossed. basically a bigger taller version of the SS hood would be nice
or something based off the twin turbo hood would be nice... like the design posted on the other page. two vents on each side where twin turbos would sit and either a cowl in the middle or SS like scoop.
but most of all i really want a new front end...and a custom wide body kit
a flatter looking facia that extends down abit farther than the stock effects and wider front grille opening so possibly i could add a front mount intercooler in there and you could see it really good

i kinda like this idea too...Can this be done if fiberglass? I always liked the idea of functional louvers. as long as i can keep the water outta places water shouldnt go.
Also is anyone reproducing the 82-83 OEM style z-28 fiberglass hoods yet?

didn't 82-83 come in fiberglass?
the problem with that iroc hood above would be the question what makes it functional? because it has open vents i suppose right?
reguardless a z28/iroc fiberglass hood is finally in the works but this is to focus on a new design.

Kandied, that tiger shark hood is nice too, a way that would fit te more square body lines we have, and still kinda give that japanease feel, would be the eleanor hood! you guys know what im talking about? and since we've all seen the original mustang, i'd liek to post a pic of the hood on a newer metro mustang, that I really like a lot.

I've been trying to picture, since I have no artistic ability, a ram-air hood that is lower profile and more flowing than what is out now with the intakes starting farther forward on the hood. Kinda like the ram-air 1 for firebirds except made to fit the camaro. It could have a two fold effect in that the front could ram air in mated to an airbox that fits into the factory tpi air intake location and/or the rear of the hood could allow heat out or cowl induction.

I'm going to be in Japan for 6 months starting in March, anyone know the name/location of the retailer who makes that Japanese hood? I'd be more than willing to try to track it down to get more pics, details, etc.
Hell, maybe I could pick one up and skip the shipping, then loan it out here to make a mold from.
Along with others, I like that one minus the side vents (if it was painted that is).
Otherwise, I like something like 89JYturbo's custom hood, maybe if the cowl was slightly skinnier, that would fit my TT setup perfect.
It's sort of like a Jongbloed meets TT hood, done right.
