Hi All
I'm probably going to replace my 15" rims soon and I was thinking about getting some GTA style ones.
I would like to see what they look like on firebirds so if anyone has any pics, I'd love to see them.
I know that there are different rims for the front and rear, but I have also read that if you have rear drums you need an additional spacer, is this true ?
Thanks
Geoff

All four are most certainly NOT the same size. The front and rear rims have different offsets from the factory. If you put the rear wheels on the front of the car the back of the wheel will rub the tie rods and the car will pull to one side while making a loud screeching noise. I thank the fine folks at the Sam's Club auto department for letting me experiance this first hand. However, 4 front wheels will fit and look ok, but GM had their reasons for using different offsets.

You only need the factory spacer if you have the nonaluminum drums. My 85 TA has the spacer(iron drums), its about 1/8th inch thick. I don't know exactly why you need it, but If GM put it there, you must need it for something.

GTA wheels are much cooler than the techno 15" wheels on standard firebirds. I have em on my 85 SE, they fit no problem. Only setback is they're a b*tch to clean.

I also believe that the stops in the steering box on WS6 cars are set differently to prevent the 16" from rubbing. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Uh, the factory ones aren't any different front to rear, are they? I put my back ones on the front (replaced rear tires w/ smaller, so it looke funny and I moved them to the front until i can get another 2 tires) and I don't have any screeching noises or pulling and nothing seems wrong.

Yes, from the factory GTA style rims do not have the same offset... all other rims that came on thirdgens to my knowledge have the same offset. So, GTA rims cannot be swapped, all others can be.
