heated mirrors would come in pretty handy in the northern states if you had to take the f-body out in the winter against your will.. at least youwould be able to see what was behind you if you didn't have a rear view Like me. (The stock mirrior will not fit on the new windshield because all of the mounts are different now. at least for the place i got my glass through.. darn it..)

Don't you just glue it on?

no. there is actually a screw and it slides over it. (it has a metal insert in it that glues to the windshield, and then you slide the mirrior over that and there is a little screw that holds it on.) the insert on the new windshiled was pre molded into the windshield... and was to big to fit into my mirror.. I suppose i could have glued the original insert onto the ne one and then put my mirrior on.. but IMO that would look stupid..

you should be able to remove the one on the window. just be carefull so it wont take a chunk of glass with it. use an exacto knife to remove it. the one in my firebird fell off with the stereo cranked.

I don't think caprice mirrors are the same, they are more rounded at the front vs. our cars. I just got one from my uncle thinking it looks! the same, just to find out its slightly different. I think the others mentioned above are correct though the caprice mirrors would physically bolt on, just not an exact match.
example of mid 80's caprice mirror...

Here's a pic of my Corvette next to my Camaro. Same mirrors other than the Corvette units being heated:

vette interiors sorta resemble same kinda material and "feel" as the camaros but the seats are nicer.
probly did share some same stuff, like mirrors, carpet, etc

Jim, are they actually the same exact units (minus heating element)? Or are the mounting angles different? I would've figured the surface of the doors would be differnt angles/curves; but they aren't?

This thread was split and moved to the fabrication board, since there is a thread about the shift boot there anyway.
One other thing to know, is that the C4 Corvette convertible mirrors will not work on a F-Body!
The Corvette convertible mirrors have a wind deflector rivited to the mirror. However, the Corvette windshield pillars are set at a different angle, and the fact that the mirror on a F-Body is alittle further back on the door.
Just letting you know,
George

Thanks...
Sadly, both are sold
Silver one for $8000 2 years ago, red one for $10,000 this summer.
More pictures if your interested...

They will be greatly missed.

Corvettes had the L98s from 1985 - 1991. Fbodies 1987-1992. They were some diff esp the fact the Vette had the Aluminum Heads from 86 1/2 and up (85 and early 86s didnt get them) The Fbodies had the cast iron heads like always. Plus the Vettes usually had 2.59 gears or the 3.07s
what were the mods that you did to get them to sell for 8k and over?
Low miles and outstanding condition is the reason. Both cars were like new throughout, a 9 out of 10.
Auction from red 88GT - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=4561674939
Any IROC, T/A, Mustang GT, or Fiero GT from the mid to late 1980's in that condition will run you $8000 to $10,000.
They are all pretty equal across the board value wise.
(excluding special models like TTA, etc)

No 82knightrider...
I bought them from the original owners in excellent condition.
Then I spent the winter months taking them to the next level.
(PS: sorry, didn't mean to hijack topic)
