HELP!!! Mark on my Stripes!!!

Ok when washing my car today i noticed what intially looked like a really small thing of bird **** on the rear deck on my heritage stripe. Well after alot of washing i gave up and decided when i was done to go over it with some wax and really pound it. Well i tried a few different waxes, and a few different polishes and it didnt come out. I also made the mistake of using a toothbrush at one point so now from certain angles you can kinda see some scuffs on the stripe. Ok ideally id like to get rid of both of these blemishes, but i mean at this point ill settle just to get one off my car.

Now i still dont know what the mark on my stripe really is, i have concluded that its probably not bird****. So basically if there is anything i could do to get rid of the scuffs on the stripe or the mark, please tell me. I am a neat freak and i got alittle OCD and this is driving me nuts.

Off topic but another thing went bad on my today as the new tint started to peel alittle AGAIN from inside the hatch. Looks like ill have to take my car back to the place AGAIN and get it fixed. Damn this is just not my weekend.

Maybe a chip in the stripe and the paint is showing through?

No i have a few of those up front... This is much different. The stripe is intact and there is no bump when you run you hand over it. Its like a blackish/dark red pattern. Like i said, at first i thought it was some dried bird ****. Dont know what it is now though. Its pretty noticable if you within 5 feet of the car. Its realy bothering me. That and like i said now there are some scuffs on the stripe. SOmeones gotta be able to help!!!!!!!!!!

Could you have gotten some sort of chemical or tree sap on it? If rubbing compound has no effect on it, I'm afraid you may be screwed...

If it were paint you could "probably" buff it out - but being vinyl is a different story.

It sounds if there were once bird **** on it and it stained - in which case it is there for good - unless you replace the vinyl stripes.

doesnt sound like it. vinyl is really different from paint in this area, in that if it's damaged, there is nothing you can do to buff it out.

i dont think theres much you can do. liek he said if it were in the paint you could buff the scuffs out but i dunno about vinyl...id be worried about distorting it. you could try like some scratch remover stuff that supposedly helps "fill in" scratches to make them less noticeable

There's bound to be something for it, though it's a rarely asked question. I'm doing some research, I'll let you know what I find.

Alrite guys i have a report to type up and then ill go outside and take some pics.

I still have no clue what the 'blemish' is, but this morning i went and checked on it and it seemed as if it not nesscarily got smaller, but less noticable. As if it faded to red alittle more. Its kinda hard to describe. Its still there and it didnt get smaller, but it got less noticable. Maybe it was the lighting. Like i said ill go take some pics when im done and we can analyze it further.

Thanks Cayse and everyone else for your efforts and/or ideas. I really appriciate all of the help everyone here gives out...its invaluable (I think thats the word!).

EDIT: Never got around to taking the pics because i like passed out on my futon watching seinfeld. Pics probably wouldnt have shown much anyway since it was really cloudly past 2 days anyway. Ill get some ASAP.

If all else fails, check e-bay for the rear stripe kit and just replace them.

My searches on autopia.org aren't coming up with anything. I posted on there, hopefully someone will have an answer.

I keep thinking a plastic polish might help, but it'll probably just mar it up even more.

for some reason I keep thinking just to use some vinyl paint...color match it exact and apply very thin light coats and then do some clear over it. Maybe I'm way off the mark - but if it was really bothering you that it's off color this could work.

If you can't get it out I would then take the stripes off the car and have them painted on.

Thanks for all the help so far. The blemish seems to get lighter and less noticable each day. This weekend, hopefully i'll have some time and take a picture of it so we can further analyze it.

As for painting the stripes on...never. I'm somewhat of a stock freak (as opposed to using the term ****) and im really a fan of the vinyl. Unfortunately i dont think anyone sells just the rear deck lid stripes. So i mean, we'll see. I dont know what to do about it yet. I may check it out at the end of the week and it may be gone and someone may have found a product to use to get rid of the scuffs.

Again, thanks for all the help so far. Ill get a pic of the problem area ASAP. Maybe tommorow if its not dark when i get home.
