Farewell to thirdgens
Last friday coming back home off of Interstate in the rain I lost control comming off tight onramp and skidded rear end into side of concrete bridge barracade. I was alright. I got ticketet for improper lane usage.
Looked at car today and got estimate from body shop, over $6,100 in damage, which includes damage done underneath as frame was bent and floorboards crumpled. Although doesn't seem quite like it, but it is very undrivable. I only had liability because I didn't feel car was worth it, so I would have had to pay any of the costs myself.
I can't afford to fix it, not allowed to keep it at my house, so its going to the scrap yard. After all the fines and expenses I have $45 left.
I always thought that if day something happened to my car I would just go out and get a GTA. Well I have thought about it, and I am calling it quits. I will not be owning another thirdgen ever. Too much work to get them to the way I really want. I had the car for 6 years now, was slow, but fun. I should be upset, but I'm not, other people seem to be taken it harder than me. To me its just my chance to get something better, although no time soon.
So this is my very last post here ever. That is all I'm going to say on this, so I'm moving on. Good bye thirdgenners, hope you stick with them and still love them.
Bye,
Devian Buffington

Yeah good thing you're alright. But don't leave, just because you don't have a thirdgen doesn't mean you have to stop posting. You've always helped out where you could and had level headed responses.
Regardless I hope all works out well for you. I know how things are with this car, mine is parked for the moment for an indefinite amount of time, but I'll get back to it soon. Maybe one day when you have more money you'll find one that's just right for you to fix up. I hope you stay, good luck.

man everytime i read posts like these i ask myself how is it possible not to drive another thirdgen again. honestly if i were to part wit mine it would be like a part of me is being torn up and it'd be extremely painful. i got so many memories in this car its unreal. its slow compared to a lot of today's cars, but the fun factor will never go away. i dont even care about making it fast anymore. i keep fixing every little thing that doesnt work or that could look better. the firebird has always been my favorite car. it would be hard to give up on it.
sorry bout ur accident. glad ur ok and good luck with ur next ride.
i took a long break from thirdgen.org when i didnt drive the car as much b/c i had purchased a motorcycle. i still have the bike and its fun as hell. but i neglected my car too long and now im back to posting again. no more mods. no more racing. i love this car more now than before.

I think everyone goes through the time when you look at your car, and look at how much money you have spent, time you have spent, and then how little you drive it and say,"its just not worth it anymore...time to grow up." i know i did it, just like llvll4l2c91350 i got a Jet Ski(not a motorcycle, but same concept) and loved it but just dont put a smile on my face like when i press the gas in my Camaro. I love 3rd Gens

Sorry to hear about the car. Glad you are okay though. I haven't driven a thirdgen in nearly three years but I still have my project I work on when I get the chance. You don't have to own a thirdgen to surf the boards though so don't be a stranger.
Good luck with whatever you decide to drive! You'll always be welcome with our crowd.

Damn man sorry to hear about what happened. I'm glad you're OK, I think thats the most important thing. I'm sure alot of us will miss looking at your drawings, you have alot of talent. Sometimes its hard to visualize what we want so having the help of a drawing makes a huge difference. I really appreciate the time you spent making drawings for me, and I'm sure alot of other people also appreciate it. You'll be missed, and always welcome back. Good luck with the next ride. You could part out your car to make some of that $$ back, looks like you still have alot of good parts. Laters!!

Hey man, sorry to hear about the loss. Hate to see you go though - you've contributed a lot, especially in visualizing design ideas.
Hope you change your mind and return when things straighten out for ya'.
Take care,

Ken

Wow. Sorry to hear about your situation. I truely hope you make a return to the F-body someday, hopefully a turdgen. I am sure you will wander back to these boards though. When I had my jeep, all I visited was a jeep forum, and once I totaled that, I came back around here, to a better board. Goodluck with your next car, and with your life. I saw all the contributions you had to the board
, and it would be a shame to see you leave.

I'm very sorry to hear your leaving, I have never spoke to you 1 on 1, but I have seen your posts and you seem like a great guy. Plus I've also seen the many many drawings you have done and I must say, they rock!

I cant belive I missed this, I talked to Devian quite a bit off the boards as well as on them and I hate to see him getting away from this since he had the talent to make even the most plain thirdgen look killer in his drawings and was well on his way to doing so with his car in real life. Ill probably keep in touch with him online and I hope he will still give me advice about the looks of my car since he was soo good at it.

Dan the Man -> most of the posts I see you make are nonsensical anyway and have very little actual content...
If you're going to continue to make short and sweet replies, at least let them have some kind of redeeming merrit to a conversation. If you had any wisdom to contribute to this situation at all you'd know that:
**Devianb is a long-time poster of these boards
**His car can better be described as his own work of art than "only a 2.8"
**Devianb has contributed more to the enjoyment of the members of these boards than dare I say it nearly every other member here (I love looking at his drawings, can you tell?)
Devian - you'll be sorely missed around here. Swing back in when you get the urge to draw again.

Sorry about the car. Good your ok though. Sorry to see you go, especially a well known and respected member of the boards. I've had laods of inspiration from the stuff you've done for other people. Look us up when the 3rd gen bug bites down the road. I'm sure most of us will still be here. Take it easy!

Well, DanTheMan, now when you wreck your car we can all say, well it was just a 305!! 2.8 would probably out run your 305.

Lots of old school folks giving props here, so I thought I'd pay homage as well with the rendition Devian gave me a couple years ago.
I told him exactly what I wanted my car to look like eventually and it came true.
Thanks man, and never say never.

wow....that really bites. not only has another 3rd gen bit the dust, but an owner has thrown in the towel after a long, tiring amount of time....sorry to see it happen, hopefully you end up getting another one, maybe a christmas present or something

Last person I expected to hear this from. Your obsession with thirdgens was definitely deeply rooted, lol.
We all appreciated the drawings you did for our cars. Take it easy bro.

Great thread to come back to.
All the pieces of art that keep being displayed are a great tribute to not only Devian, but the thirdgen community we have here.
He may not post here anymore, but I'm sure he's out there watching, enjoying.
