How to clean my wheel and tires

I got some 15" Cragar wheels, and I just got the car today in fact, the pervious owner was in the process of cleaning the wheels when I bought it, so I drove home while the cleaner still on the wheels(guess that was kinda stupid) and there was white crap all over the tires when I got home, I finished cleaning the wheels and tires with just soap and water because I didn't have anything else, but the white stuff is still on the tires once the tire drys, and there's some foggy looking haze on the plastic cover of the wheel(the middle part), but not on the actual wheel part.

epending on exactly what he was using to clean and polish the wheels, you may never ben able to get all that off.. I know on my metal polish it says to keep away from plastic and rubber due to it discoloring it (leaving white residue) that is pretty hard to get off if not impossible. The only way you may be able to get it off is to use some caustic tire cleaner (used on semi truck tires) you know. the stuff that if you get on the paint you can kiss it goodbye because it will peel up in 15 or so minutes. Other than that i dunno.. Goot note is to never leave cleaner on a car while moving.. just not a good deal at all. Especially if it is a sunny day out.. seems like most of the car cleaner/waxing stuff has bad reactions when in direct sunlight and it can bake into stuff if it is hot.

I'm gonna be pissed if it doesn't come off.... I already got primer on the pass side tires so I guess it doesn't matter much

Just go to the store, buy some black paint, and... well I think you can figure it out from there.

Welcome to TGO by the way.

lol.. make sure you get some nice flexible black paint else you will go from having white on the wheels to looking like you have spiderwebs on them. Not to mention paint will flake off at some point.. unless it is engine paint... tires do get hot, and heat with normal paint ussually spells doom for the paint...(excluding Automotive paint for painting the car, but it is not exactly everyday paint either.. not like rattle can paint.. )

Those look to be the old chrome steel Cragar SST's- a guy I knew had them on his S10. Popular wheel in the 80's.

If you can shop at Costco or Sam'sClub pick up a gallon of the All Purpose Cleaner. Normally this stuff can be diluted 4:1 or even 10:1 and it does a great job on all kinds of stains. You might want to try it almost straight and hit with a good stiff brush (obviously NOT a wire brush!). That or Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner, but that's from their professional line and can be hard to find.

Those wheels look like the perfect candidate for the Mother's Power Ball thing.

i believe wesleys is a great brand of Bleach-Rite for the tires. For the wheels eagle one makes a great billet polish. You need some elbow grease but the products have been great for my wheels and tires.
