Paint coming off when buffing ??

Used a buffer today with Meguiar's Glaze (polishing glaze something .. i think this is the no.7)

Yellow foam pad .. low speed ... well the thing turns ... greenish.. i.e. ... my car color ... which is aqua/teal

Original paint job.. so probably not a lot of clear coat left

My question is ... am I right now buffing right on the base coat and actually removing it ?

I had this problem when applying wax before as well

Or is it a case of oxidized paint ?

By adding it happened also when applying wax.. I meant when applying with a terry cloth applicator .. wax.. by hand

Anytime the applicator pad turns the color of the car you are taking some of the basecoat off.

car may have beed repaint with a single stage paint so you will get paint color on your pad. loo real close at your jambs and mirrors and place tape edges could be. that will help you tell if its original base clear or single stage paint. do some digging remove some lights see whats behind em.

if its base clear and your getting color it time for a repaint as the base will not shine. if its single stage and its shining and looking even not splotchy then your ok. just keep in mind single stage will not last for ever with your buffing.

uhmmmm

Now that you mention it ... I do have a few not many but a few spots where paint has landed on top of the rubber seal .. hmmm I think around one door and perhaps T-top seal

I was just wondering .. since yeah I thought... color means... rubbing paint off

OK thanks guys ... I'll just be careful and do it lightly for now ... car needs a new paint job anyway but not right now .. not until after any body mods I may or may not do
