I looked at the post and did a search,where can the hood be purchased from?anywhere local(USA)?

no not yet you can buy it from japan but it costs like $1500 total to have it bought and shiped here. some people are making a home made verson. i think some one is tring to get one started but its been slow getting it going keeping looking theres alot of stuff about people talking about the hood

Thanks for the info guys,but does anyone have any contact#s or website to order off of?
hope to have them ready to ship by spring here in the states. it won't be the same hood but it will be very close. we were going to have it shipped here but $1,900 was the final cost and it just isn't worth it.

Hey Jeff.. who is making it? Rex? or something of your own personal craftsmanship? whats different about it?
i think one thing everyone forgets about Japanese and their carbon fiber work.. is that, that hood.. is 100% carbon fiber.. and not just a carbon fiber overlay on top like all american companies do.. example: Corvette Special Edition with the blue, white and red strips.. the top is carbon fiber.. the rest is metal
so the craftsmanship and weight savings would be just awesome. I have a lot of ***** friends who buy nothing but "JDM" carbon fiber equipment and 99% of it is very high quality..
just an FYI.. but yeah 1900 is a tad high.. but i would say 1500 for an all carbon fiber hood is good...

for complete carbon fiber straight from japan 1500 isnt too bad, alot of fiberglass hoods are anywhere from 500-700 shipped here in the US. Any indication as to what people will expect to pay for the fiberglass one-off jeff? I suppose it's going to be within a comparable price to the others, but maybe a little higher

I'm over here in japan and looking at that hood. I also like there spoiler. it's like a Z28 but alittle different. Everything CF over here is really expensive. now if you want fiberglass or whatever else it's cheap as hell. oh well keep use posted on a stateside hood. i know it doesn't have to bee CF but that would be nice.

I wanna see some specs on those cars....they always look like they're put together well......Hey Firedawg....what kind of dealers sell thirdgen stuff overseas anyways? I'd imagine that you'd get most of it from america, but obviously there's some market if the hood is made over there. Do they have anything else (hood and spoiler aside) that differs from what we have?.....if you could, I think alot of us would like to see some different angle shots of the hood/spoiler

at this time i can't say anything other then i'm hoping to have a "sellable" mold for spring 06'.
reguardless of the expensive shipping prices, not many people would pay $1,000+ for a thirdgen hood which is why fiberglass is going to be the choice decision. for those select few willing to pay that much i'm sure things could be arranged at a later date. i found many places willing to do one off setups for $1,400-1,800 range depending on options, just do some calling around.

jeff, do you have any plans at this time for firebird hoods? i like that 3rd gens are finally getting some other options but firebirds havent gotten anything yet. please tell me you do.

i don't know if i'd call it a market but you can see that at least through their site the number of enthusiasts is much higher then many places.
as far as firebirds i'm sorry but i personally don't have any plans of doing anything with them and it's mainly from the fact that i personally don't own any. if i can ever get ahold of a nice one for a reasonable price i wouldn't mind building one and doing such work with various companies. it's hard enough to get a thirdgen camaro recognized through company support but the market is steadily growing for the camaro. beyond the few write ups from such primedia publications you really don't see many well built pontiacs on the road unfortunately which makes it difficult to gain aftermarket support.
those of you with pontiacs wanting such support i can certainly relate, unfortunately it seems like the only way to get attention is to already build the car the way you would have liked it. this of course doesn't work for most people as the cost, let alone time needed to do so much work is limited for many. the only reason i'm able to do so many things for the camaro is the fact i'm already doing them on my own, all the said company has to do is sit back and wait. i hope through enough projects like this and some of the others on my list for this upcoming year that people will see that there is a market for our cars.
this is also the driving force for not using carbon fiber, i myself would love to have one but i honestly do not see the need in any way for the many that would like to have a hood like this or similar. it's too much of a hassle to work on a one-on-one basis for each order. the fiberglass pieces are expensive enough as it is but still attainable for many. while some would be happy with a CF cover of sorts to make the hood look like it's all CF i just don't think it's right.

The more I think about it the more I agree that that hood is worth $1500, unfortunately no one can afford or wants to pay that much over here.
I really like that quality hood, especially since it's functional for forced expelling of radiator air.
I'll be looking out for Jeff's similar hood, maybe I can pick one up in a year or so to replace my 3" Harwood with.
