that's the best and worst time for a camaro owner....

getting to burn some rubber without worrying about your tread life, but in turn you have to fork out about $250-300 for 2 new tires...lol

hey guys.. ya nothing to worry about with tires, my uncle owns a tire store so I get them very cheap. looking into new rims and rubber, hopefully I'll have them in hand and mounted in the spring.

yep thats a little 305 with no cat and a flowmaster cat-back kit and 80 series muffler. headers... soon. I rather enjoy the exhaust tone

yes it is lowered. I have my front plate mounted on my air dam and you can actually hear it scrape the cement at the beginning and end of the video.. its very low!! did a bunch of mods recently, including sportline springs, KYB GR-2's all around, poly urethane bushings, end links, etc throughout, and the huge WS6 sway bars front and back.

so far its good.. sub-frame connectors and a strut tower bar is next, should really keep the whole car planted on the ground.

glad you enjoyed the vid.. I sure had fun making it

right on, I'm glad you guys enjoyed that.. makes me feel motivated about making another one!

I certinally won't make any appologies for my car, how I drive it, or because it has low miles (nearing 50,000 original miles now). I bought it to have fun and darn it, thats what I'm going to do!

nice ripper TPI383, and nice sound from the exhaust!

83_Camaro_83 - lol sorry man I missed that one somehow.. basically the area I was doing the burning is a popular area for doing just that, burning rubber (as witness of all the other rubber around) There is a bunch of houses near by and usually someone calls the cops. We weren't certain if the person in the van came down to see the show or to call the cops. Either way they left quickly which was good. Near the end a blue car showed up in the same spot as the van, so I pulled over to my camera man and told him to "get in!" Also the people you see walking in the video is who the camera guy said "Hey Man" to.. couple kids in the bushes smoking dope came out to see what all the noise was.. they loved the show

ya TPI383... that sounds great. I should hit you up on a PM and ask you a few q's.. building a 383 stroker is my next project.

83_Camaro_83 - couldn't get your vid to load.. I'll try again later.

Got a vid of u roasting your tires?? Post'em!

I also like to do burnouts and donuts, its actually the most fun I ever have with my car. Buying new tires does suck, thats why I find used tires for free and mount em specifically to go do burnouts and stuff. Here is a small burnout video I made with an awesome soundtrack

I didn't have the camera when i did mine... I lost 3rd and 4th in my trans and the tires were getting replaced anyways so I had some fun... I did it about 2 miles from home and when my dad pulled in the driveway he automatically goes "Way to go *******, I saw what you did" He was impressed, can't say my little sister was though haha

I got to watch your vid too, pretty sweet man. My friend and I used to go out late at night in the industrial areas and practice doing donuts and practice drifting. I used my IROC-Z and he used his Z28. Those fishtails are called "Chokudori" in the drift world, the goal is to do them down that entire stretch of road without crashing LOL. We would take an extra set of wheels/tires and a floorjack in the back and hide them somewhere along the road where we were playing around. So that way we could blow up our tires and still drive home. Don't know how many weekends we did that, I have like four or five High8 video tapes filled with hours of footage, enough where it almost gets boring to watch, but not quite hehehe.

83Firebird420 - once the complete video is buffered and has played using windoze media player, goto the file tab on the top left and try to 'save media as' (or something like that)..

it should allow you to save it to your hard drive.

DAYUM bad ***, i'd love to do it to mine when i put the 18's on but in colorado you have to have factory sized wheels and tires for the emmissions test, on the other hand i need a set of 15's for slicks.....Junkyard tires are cheap and i got a buddy that could mount em hehehe

Doesnt power braking it like that murder your rear brakes? Or do you have line-lock?

I've always wanted to get my peg leg to go up in smoke but i've been worried about two things: messing up my rear brakes if i power brake it, and 2) chipping the **** outta my rear 1/4's if rocks get kicked up on em.

Power to you if that **** doesnt bother you...

oh just suck it up and powerbrake the car...

it wont hurt a damn thing...

replacing rear brake pads dont concern me...had my car over a year...pads were about 70% when i got the car im just now about to do pads on the rear...so i went through a set in a year...boohoo. lol.

Simple fix to not kicking up rocks on ur paint? Dont do a burnout over rocks...

Oh and at the track...lots of people mainly vette drivers and viper drivers with nice paint will put this clear stuff that goes over the paint and you can take it off after so that you dont get rubber sticking all over the paint...never knew exactly what they were i was just going by eye. Ive done plenty of burnouts ive never really hurt my paint.

power brake, power shift.. whatever. I bought this car to enjoy it and drive it.. however I'm not out to intentionally break stuff either.

power braking like that does minimal damage especially with a manual trans... perhaps a little bit of drivetrain wear and certinally rear brake and tire wear. at the time of the video I just recently had a new rear end installed which upgraded my gearing and upto disc brakes. the new pads might be a little glazed now

Im still learning how to do this in a manual, can someone explain?? I can do it in 1st, all i have to do is floor it and let off the clutch at the same time, the car rolls slowly spinning the wheels and then gets to like 5K rpm, when i shift to second it shoots off like a rocket, How do i get it into 2nd without moving??
*BTW I am banned from my school parking lot permanently for "doing dem spin dingys" according to security. Im still not sure if they were talking about the donuts or the burnouts...oh well I wasnt dumb enought to ask...

Car: too many ...
I think powerbraking does kinda hurt the pads, causes them to glaze over from the heat. Not the end of the world but something to keep in mind. Another thing to keep in mind is transmission heat, dont want to be overheating the tranny holding it too long. When I was abusing my car my rear pads were already gone so I just went for it. Since then I've serviced the brakes, so no more standing burnouts for me. Unless I get a line lock its gonna be donuts only for me.

1985WS6transam the way I controlled speed (to slow the car down while spinning them) was to powerbrake, or I guess more specifically feather the brake while at full throttle. Just have to be able to feel the brakes good, you want it to be enough pressure to control the speed but not so much the rear pads try to completely lock.

I changed my video in my post up top from the screwing around video to my burnout video with the awesome soundtrack.

mine's an auto car so power braking wasnt hard to do

1985WS6transam... You need to get on the foot brake. With a clutch car you have to know how to do heel to toe shifting. The placement of feet depends on driver. Some will heel the brake and toe the throttle, so will heel the brake and toe the clutch. You will be making a few shifts so you need to work the clutch. I myself when power braking a clutch car I place right foot heel on brake hard, toe on throttle, left foot on clutch. Rev engine and hold to about 3K, yank foot of clutch and put it in the brake to help push brake down. Throttle with toe, move left foot off brake, stab clutch in and gran another gear with out lifting off the throttle.
