Painting front end
Painting front end
The front end of my car needs to be painted all the plastic parts including the ground effects. How much would it cost to paint just this part to match the rest of the car, I just want something that looks good not show car quality. Also my drivers side door needs to be matched. How much of the prep work can I do, I have never done any painting or preping of cars.

I painted the front bumper on my Formula. The paint was lifting from a previous paint job. They also failed to use the correct primer/paint additive. I had it looked at and to have it painted professionaly would have run $300.
I had a little experience so I decided to paint it myself in a booth I can rent out. Make sure that if you attemp this you sand/prep the entire area completely. Apply the correct flex-additive primer (available in an aerosal can $12) and sand that smooth with 320 or so. I used about a pint of 1 step paint (clear mixed in). I was told that the flex additive was not necessary for the paint as long as I used the correct primer.
Total cost was about $30 for supplies and rental. The paint came out excellent. Take your time and don't use spray paint out of a can. The color never matches!
