which hood struts

today i purchased some hood strutsfrom autozone for a 82 z28,but it didnt say if it was for the composite hood,or the steel one.did this year or any other year only come with the fiberglass struts?does anyone know the autozone part number or where i can get these things from without spending a arm and a leg.-

GM is the best place to go. But be careful because the early thirdgens came with a fiberglass hood on the Z28s and steel hoods on the regular models.

Here's the info you need, yes you have to use struts for the light plastic and fiberglass hoods. I got mine from NAPA Auto Parts and they are made by Strong Arm #BK-819-5280 these are original equipment type for the 82-84 Z28's.. Hope this helps you..

I don't remember, but I'm sure if you go to NAPA on line and do a search you can find out.. Sorry I don't remember for you.

not very, just dont take the hinges off the car as that will double the amount of adjustment that would be needed to alighn the new hood. take the old hood off, then replace the hood struts, then bolt the new hood on making sure the sides clear the fenders without rubbing. having 3 guys makes it hella easier, trust me.
