Underbody neons just strike me as such an Import Tuner or SEMA show car thing and, to me at least, they just seem out of place on a 3rdgen. Unless you've gone and done a really radical custom job on your car, then I suppose that could be the finishing touch.

But mostly I'm opposed to them in general. Even on my import!

neons started appearing on muscle cars before ricing out cars even became a fad.

i think it might look ok IF you abide by a few rules of thumb. NO bumping flashing lights, NO stock wheels, NO vinyl decals etc

Underglow is hard to get even throughout the underside of the car and the wheel wells look "empty" unless you buy the kit for those to but that costs alot of $$$ so it would have the potential to look great if it can be funded to be done right. Personally I put strobes under my car because I could be doing 10mph or a 100mph and my wheels look like there not moving at all and it gets the wow effect and looks amazing...on the second hand I too have green neon tubes in the hatch of my car under the first plateform above my subs just to add the final touch to them....

(Thats an old pic I now have 2 of the Visonik subs)

I dont know about mixing colors...i would stick with all one color for lights. I dont know though, never seen multiple colored neons in a car in person.

It can actually look very sharp, if done right.

Towards the bottom of the page there is a white Mustang w/blue lights I particularily like.

Oh man that's the funniest thing ever!

As for neons, I like them on some cars. If the color goes well with whatever color paint you have. A nice vibrant color would even look good with white neons. Plus you could use it as awork light.

do a search on this forum (appearance) there are several threads discussing neon's and a handful of thirdgen members who have neon installed and are showing them off with pics.. myself included.

My first Iroc was a Black 1986 and I had pink on the sides, purple in the front and back and teal above the wheels....it looked really cool because the colors blended well. I did however break so many teal ones I finally decided to take them off....this was in 1992, before ricers had them on everything

i was hoping no one had already done that. I've got my RAII hood done with L.E.D.'s and was hoping for a decent debut sometime next year when i get the rest of the car done. That is if all goes well. Either way I like it. I was unsure if i liked it as mine isn't on my car yet. But seeing it at night on another car decided for me for sure.

I have a couple rules for neons............I personally haven't got to get a set yet.

1.) Keep it matching inside and out or your gonna look like a circus car.

2.) Try to pick a color that matchs your body color please........nothing looks more cheap than a blue car with red and green neons.

3.) Please make sure there tucked under the car............I see to many ridin around with them hanging down from under the car.

There is this kid around here with a 69 camaro that is candy apple red that his farther bought him for high school and the first thing he did was buy purple neons for the inside and lime green for the outside. Looks like a show car during the day but at night looks like a circus on wheels.

I don't like the hood vents being a different color than the rest or that you can see the tubes.

Other than that, it looks good.

I had blue neons on my old bird before MR State trooper didnt like em anymore

My bird was red with T/A fenders so i put lights in the side vents too.
Blue looked badass on it, especialy when it was idling in a dark lot

Nuttin like a loud car cam loping with a mild glow

i'm thinking about getting some lighting for my car, BUT i dont want underbody lights, i think it'd be kinda cool to just have a small LED light in each of the holes in the ground effects. so 2 on each side of the car. of coarse they'd be blue and you woudn't see the actual bulbs just the light of them coming from inside the ground effects

anyone else think this would look sawweeet?

I think it wouldn't be enough LED's Two LED's per side, on that low of a car, would put like 6-8" circle on the ground below each LED. IMO you'd be better off getting the LED underbody, and tucking it up behind the GFX.

i'm pretty sure he's just talking about the whole's in the 91-92 ground effects. I did it a year or so ago. but i used red since my iroc was black and red. And I got pulled over for it. But it was a ******* cop that had nothing better to do. Cause I went to municipal building and asked them about it. they said as long as it doesnt flash and they can't see the source of the light. I didn't get a ticket from the cop. And I had a cop check it out to see what they thought. And I'm within legal parameters. It looks good bluezee you should do it. I'm very happy with it.

I didn't do an underbody glow kit, but I did have a glow stick in the interior when I was younger. My buddy rigged a switch up so I could flip it off with my toe if the time called for it
