I was watching my 82 bird and then i came with the idea
...what if i addapt new brright lights to the same sealed beams ..or similar.-
is there an aftermarket replacement that make our lights look like the new generation cars ? ive seen some BMW and mercedes with nice bright lights
is this a good idea ?
what you think?

you can get a housing and bulbs, but you want 55/65 watt bulbs...try to find a bulb in the temp range of 4200k...stay away from bulbs that are over 5000k...they will be more of a bluish color and wont give off enough light

I don't know how bright they might be compared to the new cars,
but I did see an alternative. I was in the local auto parts store purchasing
a a replacement for a burned out headlight. I wanted something brighter
in the low beam. The normal headlight is 35w low and 55w high. I found
a 55w low and 55w high for $2.00 more that the standard seal beam.
It is a lot brighter, especially on blacktop roads in the rain. (The light
is whiter). They also had one on the shelf that was 65w low and 75w high
for $5--$6 more than the standard sealed beam. Don't know how much
more juice it would draw, but it might be an alternative for you.

Newer cars (BMW and Benzo) with the really bright lights are probably running HID's. Its possible to convert your Camaro to run HID's but usually alot more expensive than people are willing to spend. Cheap kits (inc ballasts) can go for the $300 range but most quality kits are in the $500+ range. You would also need to buy enclosures, but same deal with the H4 upgrade. Junkyard hunting is a possibility but usually the yards know how much HID's are worth. Cheaper upgrades for the Camaro are the H4's and direct replacements like Sylvania Silverstars. Definately try a search before doing anything. You want to make sure your wiring is correct.
