Keyhole Guards

I'm not exactly what to call these. I'm refering to the covers that go around the keyhole and acts to guard the paint from scratching of your other keys or whatever. Anyway, where is a good place to find these? Years ago I saw some that I wanted, Rectangle with rounded off edges, black, with a chrome bowtie emblem. I have not been able to locate these since. Does anyone know where to find these or something similar?

I'd rather see scratches areound the keyhole than those guards... ick

Well, I'm kind of stuck with them. When I bought the car, it came with one, yes one. On the passenger side it has one that says "limited edition" (guess that means I have that extremely rare limited edition 89 RS huh?). Anyway I would love to get rid of the cheap piece of aftermarket crap, however, I think that removing it would ruin the paint under it. If not, I think the paint may be a different color (from the exposed paint fading where as this would not).

I had some on my TA when I bought it. I was afraid of the same thing you are with mine being red. I took them off any way, and there was no fading. I'm not sure how long they were on the car though.

As far as where to find them, I've seen some in Autozone and just about any other auto parts place, but I'm not sure if they were the exact type you are looking for. Autozone does have different emblems, the pontiacs are clear with a red symbol, but I'm not sure exactly what the bowtie looks like. They do have them though.

I've seen the clear ones too, and I think they look pretty bad. Could be even worse if by taking off the origional one I messed up the paint under. Speaking of getting it off, what would be the best way of attacking that problem? I'm thinking I'm going to try heating it with a blow dryer and just prying at it with a razor blade (ack!).

KARMESINOT..something like that.
ok go to your nearest car dealership and ask them how to get those off. they have some really cool ways of getting these types of things off. they have to take stickers off all the time. and then put their company sticker in the same place, you know the stickers that we all peel off that say the companys name. yeah they can help you.

Instead of getting these things.. why not just be a little more careful with your keys?
