engine dress up kits

so i was in pep boys the other day and i see these kits u can buy. in them there are coloured hoses [red,blue] and chrome like steel sleeves that fit over other hoses...my question is...is this rice or not?.

Wouldn't call it rice, but they are definitely very cheap kits. Simulated braided steel hose kits. You can do a lot better with just good clean hoses or colored like the goodyear hi miler hose or the more expensive route of stainless steel. Of course, this is just my opinion.

They look great the first couple days, then like crap afterwards. They're cheaply made, don't look good if you mess up (stretch the mesh, etc.) and add unnecessary weight to the car.

I would give you mine if I hadn't tossed it into the garbage the week I bought it.

I agree that these kits are not the best my hoses are streching out and revealing the black hose beneath.

i dont have any pics but i do have one of those hose kits on my car. i got it from autozone for 49.95 about a year ago and they still look good. keep em clean and install them right and they make the motor look a lot better
