Yeah.. Stock ones!

So I've got a pretty car, shiney black, with ugly stock gold rimmed (on the inside spoke thingy) rims...

How do you paint them?
The search function is down sadly...

Someone help a girl out!!

I want to paint them like a graphite grey with the shiney silver circle on the outside... lol..

Damn. I sound like such a blonde.

scuff them up and buy some rim paint for them, or automotive paint in whatever color you want and have at it.

heh - If you really don't like your wheels, there are quite a few KITT enthusiasts that would pay you handsomly for them. You could afford to buy a new set of shiny wheels with the money you'd make. And from what I understand, those 15s are much more desirable than the 14 inch versions.

Those aren't the rims that accept the bowling ball hubcaps, so I doubt any KITT enthusiast would want them. I had the same style wheels on my 84 S/E. They are the Turbo Finned wheels that take the small firebird centercap not the large "bowling ball" caps.

The wheels you have would be an absolute pain to refinish. The slots are so thin, it would be hard to get in between them to strip or paint. I'm not saying it can't be done though. I would just look around the local junk yards for a set of stock 16" Formula or Trans Am wheels. It would make the car look better and handle better too.

just my .02 cents.

I know I should give in and buy new rims... But I'm a poor starving college student and can't seem to justify the amt of money I would have to pay...

Considering the amt I put into my car on a monthly basis. That thing will NEVER be done...

Anyways, so how would I go about doing it? Should I get the tire taken off the rim? Do I take it off the car? Some more insight advice.. Please! And thank you!

You dont have to remove the tire, but i would remove the wheel from the car.Clean as much of the dirt/grime you can get to.Use a small wire brush that will let you get into the small crevices to remove the crud.Clean it some more again.Let the wheel dry completely.Mask off the tire & part of the rim you dont want paint on.You may want to start from the back of the wheel so you can get paint into the deeper sections.Otherwise you will use too much paint if you just paint from the front of the wheel.Use several light coats to keep the paint from running/sagging.If your switching to a lighter color use a primer that isnt darker than the new color your going for.If your just repainting them the same color. You can skip the primer & just repaint them.
