Stock 86-92 Firebird/Formula tail lights

85-90 Trans Am/GTA tail lights (the pic is of my car, I swapped the bumper covers with ones off of an 84)

To swap the tail lights you'll need to change the turn signal socket to the same style as the brake and tail lights.

hmmm i've been thinkin about this a lot
and i had a 82 tinted tail, but i wanted to go "new style"
Ok,i really like the Formula 87-92 tail at night ! they look unbeatable, the 82-84 tails looks almost the same like the 85-90 at night but the 91-92 at night looks really poor (i like all lit up like a large red light)
but by day,the 91-92 T/A looks the best, the 85-90 T/A looks decent and i hated the formula tails by day..with the horrible orange sidemarker
so i made an hybrid....oops the search button is gone again
anyway here is my tail

Here's a better pic of the 91-92's, freshly polished with new letters.

this is the day I picked up the car,

changed to the 85-90 style (with the wrong center piece, couldn't find one that wasn't broken),

and then to the 91-92 style.

here is a video taken with a still camera showing the 91-92 tail lights at night,

i saw your video and i think 91 92 looks pretty poor at night
is there a way that they lit like the 85-90's T/A tails ?
i mean all red and the three corners all lighten up ?

I've never had 91-92 t/a tails but if they come apart like the 85-90 t/a tails do then there will be colored lenses inside. Then you could make your own red lense by cutting up one from another car or paint them with a translucent red like the camaro guys do in their "red taillight mod". Again, I dont know if these tails come apart this way...

that would be a very expensive mod, since these lights usually go for around $250/set. the lights do come apart, as you can buy new outer lenses (about $250 each from Classic Industries), but the colored portion is in the bucket.

I personally like the amber signal on the corners and the grid pattern looks better than the 85-90 style to me.

I believe that is much harder to do since your brake lights are also your turn signals. someone mentioned that you have to do some re-wiring down near the pedals as well as at the back of the car.

The more times a light bulb is turned on and off the faster it burns out.
I don't think it would look right.
Suggestion: Replace light bulbs with LED technology but the downside is the LED stuff can get expensive.

I see. I was just thinking of a way to make it more noticable to ppl behind me. Im scared that someone is gonna run in to the back of me one day because the signal is so slow and isnt that noticable since its red. But i dont wanna go to the formula's style taillight
