Sexified RS part duece:::the motor
here she is boys rolled it out, still have some cleanup to do, route plug wires good, get rid of some a/c wiring etc....started it sunday morning through the cat
she's healthy, cam gave it a real nice sound but it was loud and cam break in was cancelled after the neighbors were threatening cops.....so i got a "device" for a remote mount muffler after the muffler on there to quiet it down for break in, hoping to unveil it at the local crusie for the first time of the year with the airride and motor now done.....but thats if all goes according to plan...pics arent great but its what i have for now
and teh valve covers are jegs tall cast covers.....love em

cam break-in was cancelled?
hope you got it broken in without a hitch...that's not good for it!!!
also, i'm really diggin the black intake fad. i think it's pretty cool! (second one i've seen this week) i think i may do mine when i swap the shortblock on monday...you still gotta BUNCH of wires to reroute though...you gonna do away with the heater core as well since you no-longer have a blower motor to blow that hot air around? it'll clean the bay up a LOT by not having those heater hoses all over everywhere.

i broke in my cam last week, the cops showed up 15 minutes after i was done. i wouldn't worry about doing it during the day, the neighbors will have to get used to it as there's no noise restrictions during daytime hours.

i talked to comp, they said with the roller cam i should be ok as long as i get a good prime before i fire it again, we never revved it when it was running it sat right around 600rpm teh whole time, i talked to the lady and said i have to do it i' have a system after the exhaust to try to quiet it down and said all i need is 35 minutes or so, even offered to give her money for dinner but she seems cool now, problem is i am in a townhouse and she's upstairs...said stuff was falling off her walls
I'm in love with the manifold......in person its kind agot a slight brownish tint to it...not much but enough to make it kind aan off black, everyone has commented how good it looks....the heater core and all that is capped for now until i decide whether ti run a standard heater box in it or not....i'm just worried about having a defroster if it rains

yeah, there is no break-in for a roller cam. prime pump, fire it up, check for leaks, go around block and stomp on it!

engine swap in a bird here going 383 and HSR...
A week later I finally have the trans done, just to find out the heads on the 383 are missing ONE bolt boss for the serp set up... So a quick rebuild and port later the L98 heads are going on for now till I can get some cash for some real replacements.

20k invested huh? well i'm at 17,200 in my camaro, been working on it about 20 hours a week off and on for 6 years now. I have put 2.4 miles on it since 2003. Sometimes you get frustrated and need to pull back and stop working on it for a bit and not worry about the little things. This year is the first year I'll actually get to drive it, if these things were easy it wouldn't be as worthwhile. Nothing fits aftermarket on these cars well ever, there's always some fabrication involved here or there.

I'll come get it for 3 grand, lmao!
Don't sell it. We all know you are throwing wrenches and what not, but that happens. Walk away, and come back to it in an hour. Expect the worst with any project. It took me 19 hours to put a lift kit on, when it should have taken 8, so dont worry brother.

Ask me how I know...wait don't ask just do a search and read through my recent threads.
The car looks awesome man, I wouldn't worry about anything. If you are like a lot of us, this car will stay with you forever so one bad year isn't so bad.
I wish I was sittin' on bags...

Ive gotten pretty pissed off at mine in the past, and even tried to sell it. But now i have gotten more patcient with it, and if it pisses me off i just walk away for a few days. Im like xpndbl3, my car does way way more sitting than i does running but its okay, it will be running one day. And my sweet girlfriend she has stuck by my side for 5 years now and i have been working on my bleeping car for 7 years and have around 20k invested, and i cant even tell where it went. irocbirdbuilder is running a 4" harwood cowl induction hood. there is no way that big air filter would fit other wise.

Just relax GRASSHOPPER, waite until she takes off for a few hours, then blow the walls off that place.....lol. Dude if you want to know about patiance, I have been collecting parts for the last 3years and am now just really gettig started on my project. Like everyone here said just take a breath and come back to it later. And the good thing about a roller is you dont have to break it in, I was so afraid that you were going to say it was a flat tappet, then that would not have been good. Good luck.

Damn bro...you break my heart when you say that. I am in the process of finishing my superramed 383 and t56 set up. It's been over a year that I have driven my baby. Now reading your post, I am wondering what horrible things may come from my car...hell...will she even start? I don't even remeber what it felt like to drive the damn car. I too have spent over $20k on the fukn car...everyting from 13" brakes, to full suspension, full racing interior..and now..the new ZZ383 and Viper spec T56.
I know what you mean about the gf situation. I have had countless fights with my gf over working on the car. The only time I have to work on her is on the weekend...so it's like...who do I want to see this weekend...my car or my GF?
Anyway man..I am sure you will figure out your ish. Hey...I will even post some pics later of my car and show you that you are doing way better than I am! My car has been on jack stands for about 8mos now!

well boys she's finally going heres how last last few days went, thursday night finished up the exhaust a stupid mistake everyone missed, had the adapter too far up the ypipe for the cat, got it squared away, around 230 am get out early straighten up some wires around 10 have my remote mount muffler plumbed to start it and run it quiet(long story short failed miserably 3" dryer vent tubing doesnt hold up going into another muffler it blows into hundreds of pieces
) she takes off go to start it nothing click under the dash, ripped the console apart the brand new radio shack relay is burned on the nss side, so i head to lil sis graduation get home rewire it to bypass the relay, all is good get the hood on, running a bit late to the cruise night but figure i'll time it and get out there, few miles down the road, go to fire her, starter, spins and spins, wont engage on the flywheel.....brand new starter literally maybe 45 starts if that, i call up napa and go off, rip the old one out and throw it out the garage, now when i discovered this i had the very large breaker bar on the rollaway, i picked it up and came real close to putting it trhough the doors....get the new starter on had a few problems getting the timing right today but got it running good and drove it for a good 3.5 hours tonight, no leaks, no ses light nothing, its lumpy with teh cam but so so sweet and the exhaust is nasty sounding...i shoul dhave pics all together later today at this point, have a show, the big debut tomorrow morning and she's all together
THats a 14x4 open element, keep in mind i'm at 5800 feet elevation, up here we need all the air it'll pull, plus a spacer under the tbi, it sits a bit above the firewall but has no problems clearing the hood, the hood sat on my coffee table in the living room teh whole time, i didnt wanna fight with it so we just pulled it off
