new wheel discovery!!!!

man, today I was walking to my truck and came across a new Chevy. Don't know the model but it looked like a friggin PT cruiser alien. Anyway, it had some stock polished 17" 5 stars and MAN they looked GREAT!! Don't know anything about offsets, etc but I highly recc. you investigate if you are in the market for wheels! These things are really nice and would look great on a 3rd gen IMO. They're kind of like C6 5 stars....really clean looking!

Anyone know what I'm talking about???

Well, the HHR seems to be GM's rebuttal to the PT Cruiser, are these the wheels you speak of?

they look like a bastard child of a Pt and a liberty...

And on that note just what has happened to the American auto design as of late?
The only "sports cars" designs I like are the viper now... And the new Charger coming out... Basically Chrysler products... Crossfire

The 'vette just looks... odd...
The new mustang is not bad... but not great.

By looking at the new designs it is no wonder why no American car was in the top 10 picks of '06...

That's got nothing to do with styling, it's got to do with a non-stop foreign boner that all automotive journalists have.

In general, the new Mustang and new Corvette are highly regarded for their styling. Sales of both are very strong.

The reason for the foreign car 'boner' is because the current American cars are not built for longetivity. For a short period of time, all of the Big Three were making limited life plastics and fabric. Basically a lot cheaper for the consumer, but they didn't last long. In order for American cars to get back on top, it would take a complete new redesign for an entire company, not one car.

The problem with the HHR, PT Cruiser, etc. is they are made to look like rat rods and rollers from the past, but everyone who did this to these cars had a nice engine or were out cruising in the wood panels. How sweet would that HHR become if it had the LS7 and a 6-speed in it? How cool is the new Camaro and Challenger with the 8 cylinder engines they have?

I'm noticing that Chrysler is stepping to the plate much faster than the other two, but I don't know if that means anything yet.

Well compare the quality between (now) american made and (now) foreign made vehicles and their warranty periods.
There literally is no comparison.
When the big threee some out with something nice, journalists are all over it... when they have not... they are'nt.

As far as styling of the 'vette it's 'ok' but it just does not have an aggressive look to me anymore. The 'stang GT with a decent body kit looks better. It is like they are putting more emphasis on trucks and SUV's now than cars... That is the only thing I do not like what dodge has done... I hate the new look of the rams...

with current EPA regulations and OBDIII most cars are considerably more reliable than before. i would never buy a ford fiesta back when it was brand new, but i would buy a new aveo today and be confident in its reliability. they are both the same type of cheapo youth car but the newer one is going to be more reliable
