Just bought Black ZR1 Rims

Hey everyone i just bought Black 18" ZR1 rims for my car...they should be here in the next week.

Anyone have any idea what size tire is the best to go with for the front and back to give it a nice stance. They are 18x9.5
and is Skulte the best place to get spacers?

Thanks,
Nick

Skulte makes the best adapters money can buy.

run a 275 up front and a 285 out back. that would look sick!

i love how 315's look in the rear of any car, if its possible. but 285's are sweet too. what kind of tires are you planning on running?

a 315 would be hard to fit on a 9.5" wide wheel.

i have 17x8.5 up front and 18x9.5 in the rear with a 4th gen rear. the front rub as it is and there 245/45/17 putting a 275 up front i can tell you won't work and thats with my 2' spacres from skult. as for the rear i have 275 40/18 and they look great i would of went bigger but the would stick out a little to much, whats the biggest you can get on a 9.5 inch rim?? if you want pics let me know i can get them.

o and do the 4th gen rears bolt right up? i wanted disc breaks in the back and plus with the ZR1 rims i wouldnt need spacers out back. so i wanted to see if a good buy would be the 4th gen rear

Skulte does not make the best adapters because his are not hub-centric. They are lug centric. I have them and I get vibration at highway speeds.

As for 275's up from. I have them on my car right now. Aswell as 295's on the rear. All on 97-00 C5 wheels.

matt-p are u running spacers?
if so what brand?
i heard a lot of good things about skulte yet also that there not needed cause of price and u only need them in your road racing..i was thinking of getting the billet-aluminum ones on ebay but i heard bad things about that also.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Can u post pics of ur tires and rims on ur car?

I'm interested in which hub-centric spacers to get as well. I was under the impression that skulte was the place to go....now I'm confused.

If ya don't wanna second guess yourself go with skulte, ebay is great but there is def a bigger chance of something goin wrong.

If ya buy from ebay like my friend he seemed to be worried all the time, every little bump or sound he head he would stops to check the wheels. He then bough some from skulte and even though neither gave him problems(could be the exact same) he dosen't stop all the time now with the skulte adapters.

Spend the money and go with a name thats been around a while or take a chance with the new guy with lower price it really comes down to what cha got in your pocket at the time of purchase.

wow thats weird, i know alot of ppl on this board running 275's with NO problems what so ever. i have 245 16's on my car and they dont rub at all. and a 17inch tire would be the same overall diameter.

i'd probly go same tire all around...with 18's you have tons of choices, but i'd go 265's up front.. either 265/40 or 265/35. probly the 35 as it would be smaller in diameter and would fit better. or if you want, 255/40's.

then rears i would try and squeeze 295/35's on

if you dont like that then definately 275's or 265's all around

Skulte is the way to go...

I've been running them for years and never had a failure or vibration problem of any kind. Only issue I've had is Discount tire won't touch my wheels while on the car because they feel adapters/spacers are unsafe. So I just take the wheels in the back of the truck if I need something done.

Hubcentric vs Lug Centric. Doesnt matter, as long as you have em tight, they will line up, thats why there is a recess in the Skulte adapter, so when the lugs tighten, they center up.

Hmm... I just got this off of Skulte's website.

Will your wheel adapters cause vibrations?
Our billet adapters are hubcentric, and also have conical lugnut seats that center the adapter to the hub. If the adapters are first finger tightened in a star pattern, then torqued to 30 ft-lbs, and finally ftorqued to 85 ft-lbs, the adapters will center themselves to the lugnuts. Other adapters that use the older mag-wheel style shank and washer to bolt the adapters to the hub will have some slop, and may cause vibrations at higher speeds. We also recommend wheel-centric lips on any adapters that are thicker than 3 inches, especially in the front. Under 3 inches, we have never had any vibration issues, although we can add the wheel centric lip if requested on custom adapters. We use the SPD billet wheel adapters on our '89 Camaro, which regularly sees high-speeds at the race track without vibration.

Seems like these guys are the way to go for a few reasons. Now I need to order a set.
