I know how to clean newer engine bays but I am just worried for some reason about pressure washing, etc on my motor. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Heres a pic of mine, before I took out the ac stuff and smog pump. Thanks guys.

you could take it somewhere and have it steam cleaned. I've done that/ but I've also done it myself with some stuff from auto zone. you justcover your carb, distributor, things like that that you don't want wet. then spray this foam everywhere. let your car idle for 10-15 minutes then spray the stuff off. that works pretty good. not as good as a steam cleaning though.
Yeah I figured it was pretty much the same process. I guess Im just worried about messin something up since shes old lol. Thanks.

Cover the dizzy and capitraiter
lol, spray the whole compartment with watered down degreaser, lightly hose it off.
Repeat and scrub untill clean.
Let it dry overnight if possible.
Use tire shine on the hoses or the whole dam thing, that's what the dealer dose...........

Theres a process that I've used on newer cars that works really good. We would wash it all down first with water and then spray formula 2001(armor all stuff) all over the engine while it was running, let it run for 20min with the hood closed and it basicly would be done. That process is great and looks good but I need to get all the grease and grime off mine. What do you guys suggest? Purple Power, degreaser? Any particular brand or anything? So when I cover the dizzy and air cleaner do I just use a towel or something? Thanks again guys. When I do stuff I just wanna make sure I do it right, ya know.

Degreaser warning!! It says on the can "FLAMABLE". And they are correct. Now you can guess how I know. I sprayed "gunk" on a hot engine (it wasn't my camaro) and flames shot above the top of the open hood almost reaching the top of my carport. Luckly my wife happend to look outside at the time and yanked the kitchen fire extingusher out of the sheet rock wall and got it to me just in time. It did not hurt anything on the motor, but sure as hell taught me a lesson. I have used degreasers on a hot engine many times before this and never had a problem. Maybe it was just that damn 4-banger, rice burner I was trying to clean for my son.

use plastic bags and things like that to covers your carb and distributor. maybe some plastic wrap to. you wanna make sure that no water gets through. make sure to seal em up with electrical tape or something strong.

On my old Camaro I would just cover the carb and distributor with aluminum foil and avoid spraying it directly with the high pressure hose at the car wash. Works great, never had a problem.
