Can I put Firebird ground effects on my 86 Camaro

I was at the JY yesterday looking at some doors for my Camaro off of a Firebird & noticed it has all the ground effects still on it. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they can go on my Camaro? I know I would prob. have to drill extra holes maybe, but didn't know if anyone has ever done this. The ones on my car are pretty much shot. Please if anyone could help, I'm going back down there Tuesday to get those doors & want to get the gfx too if they will fit.

I'm not sure if this is true, but I heard that Firebirds are a bit wider than camaros.

umm, I wonder if that's true. I have searched lots of threads, but can't seem to find anything on it. I'm suppose to go tomorrow to pick up the doors & was hoping someone could help before I went so I would know if I should get them or not. Surely someone here knows!

the door and rocker panels will work, but the front and rear bumper covers will not work without serious fabrication. also, you DON'T have an 86 RS. they were not reintroduced till 1989...well, 88, but only in cali and in very limited numbers. trust me, you'd rather hear it from me than to continue to go around saying you have an 86 RS and someone call you out on it.

also, the doors are a simple bolt on and go deal, as i have one on mine from an 88 GTA.

Also, mw66nova will the side effects line up ok to the front & rear bumper covers & front effect that's already on their? It is mainly the sides that I need anyway.

no, not exactly. they sit a bit higher on the car. i would find some for a camaro honestly. i think it'd look strange with TA gfx.

as far as id'ing the car, it kinda depends. i'd love to see a picture of it. you'll know for sure it's an 86 by the third brake light. in 86, they put an external brake light on top of the hatch. this is the easiest way to tell. but in 1986, the base model cars didn't have GFX, only z28's and IROCs did. the sportcoupes and berlinettas all looked like what's in my sig. sometimes with or without a spoiler. in 1987, the spoiler was standard and the third brake light was actually in the spoiler, and they did it that way through 1990. the gfx became standard in 1988, so 1987 was the only year that a spoiler was standard, with a third brake light in the spoiler and NO gfx. 1988, the sportcoupe got GFX and some dealers in cali got the RS package. in 1989, the sportcoupe name went away and RS was the designation for the base model car. the easiest way to tell is to get the VIN code (17 digit number/letter combo on the dash) and decode it through the site here. it'll at least tell you what year the car is FOR SURE.

as far as the side gfx goes though, i'd check the classifieds boards here for some in good shape. there is normally at least one set for sale. i really would suggest staying with the camaro specific stuff.

ok, so it's a z28, not an RS...technically, that's a better car..."technically".
