I mounted mine on the front air dam, you know the one right under the radiator. Sure from 20 feet back you can see the plate, but its not actually mounted on the front of the car. On comming traffic can easily see my front plate, havn't been hassled by LEO yet...

Move to Florida and get rid of that front plate entirely!

J/K...Its just real nice to not have to worry about it down here, along with no need for any window registration/inspection stickers.

And as a result, half the cars on the road only have one working head/tail light and smoke profusely.

actually i was kind of wondering what to do with the front plate for firebirds. On most camaros they have a place to mount them, firebird don't. Sorry about that. I think the best option i like so far is bending the plate just a little bit and mounting it directly to the front bumper, no license plate bracket needed. Zepher's formula's front plate is mounted this way.

Front license plates are lame, my state of Ohio requires them also, but I have only had 1 car that actually had a bracket for the front. If there is no bracket I refuse to put it on. I have never been stopped by a cop, I don't think they really enforce it anyway. You see tons of cars on the road without the front plate.

They usually don't stop you for it, but if they pull you over for another reason, they add that ticket on too.

I used to put my plate in the windshield, I got pulled over too many times, so I just sucked it up and put it on the front of the car.

according to CA, thats totally ok:
"The rear license plate shall be mounted not less than 12 inches nor more than 60 inches from the ground, and the front license plate shall be mounted not more than 60 inches from the ground"

i'm so doing that.

Mine is under the seat. It is true they can fuss about them in Ohio, but from all the cops I've talked to, as long as you aren't doing anything else wrong, they will usually leave you alone.

I actually got pulled over a while ago for this her in California. I told the cop a) it is a California car, b) it never came with one and c) the car is 16 years old and I can't exactly go back to Chevy and complain!
He said that 'makes sense- drive safe'!!

Re: any good ideas on what to do with the front license plate?

There was no way I was going to drill holes in my brand new GM front bumper. So I have it in the windshield, on the pass. side at the bottom corner, and it's help up w/1" squares of gray double sided tape located where the holes are. I've gotten a lot of compliments on my way around Ohio's stupid law, and in 4 years I have never been pulled over (knock on wood).
