donut spare
Didn't know where to post this. I tried to pump up that crapy little spare because I'm taking my car to "cruising the coast" in Mississippi this weekend and wanted to see if the spare would pump up because I never used it before. As I was putting air in it the rubber moved all to one side of the rim. I did not have the donut on the car. Has anyone else ever had this happen.

Not sure there really is a certain forum for spare tire questions (maybe the Suspension / Chassis forum.. ?).
If it's the Goodyear full-size 'space saver' spare (or, whatever it is actually called), yes, it will look like it's about to jump off the wheel while inflating. Once there is enough air pressure, it should (literally) pop back in place and look normal again.
The first time I inflated mine with the Co2 can, it about flipped my wig, too.
It will also do the same thing when deflated.

actually it's a damn 14" black rim (I have the standard 15" z28 wheels on the car). It does have a can of gas to inflate with. This is an 88 that the spare has never been on the ground. The tire is sealed and will hold air it's just that when it's full of air it does not inflate or expand equally on each side of the rim. The whole tire inflates to one side of the rim. Now the directions did say to put the tire on the car first then inflate (which I did not do). Maybe that's the problem but I doubt it.

Oh, I thought you were airing it up inside the car. This would've have limited one side of it airing up due to it being inflated against the inner fenderwell.

yea topless,
that looks just like mine. When I get back from "cruisingthecoast" in Mississippi I'm going to put it on the car then pump it up and see what happens. Maybe it will inflate correctly on the car.
