Coming back from the dead
It's been 2 years now since I've owned a thirdgen... And there is definitly something about them. After I sold my old one about a week after I slapped myself in the face, and have been regretting it ever since...
But not anymore, as of this afternoon I have another 1988 Camaro. This time not as beefy as my last, but I've got great ground work to start with.
Current stats:
1988 IROC
350 TPI / 700R4
rebuilt engine/tranny has 30k km on them. No mods, just rebuilt.
recent work done to front brakes
new alt, rad, water pump, starter
What she needs:
Paint, the old red paint is peeling BADLY. The clearcoat looks like ice over the car.
rear brakes, not sure how bad they are yet
CV joints
exhaust, it has a giant hole in it.
windshield wiper mech inside the car is broken at the end.
For starters, is there anything I can do besides something huge with the paint just to clean it up a little bit. It makes the car look so bad when the reality is it only has 130K km on the body ( 80,500 miles ). The car has ZERO rust, it is immac cond. But I'm wondering if there is a quick fix for the paint, I can't get it painted until the summer.
As for now I'm just going to go over the car and fix what's wrong with it. Once I know it's running and working as it should, I'll add the extras.
But for now, anything I can do with that paint?
Oh right... And it has those UGLY louver things on the hatch glass. So ugly IMO... Is there anything I need to know about taking them off, or just undo the bolts?
Good to be back, and if anyone is still around from my time... Well nice to see you're still kickin.
