my first car *updates

here is my 1989 camaro rs..... 2.8 v6 5-speed got it for $300. To get it driving i need a tranny mount and a rear-end. i want to eventually paint it white with black stripes put the 92 "high-rise" wing on it.with weld racing pro-stars 15x10 in the back and 15x8 in the front with 295's. then the interior in black and red. (the shifter **** is halarious, mock carbon fiber..it came with the car). motor wise, i think im going to stick with the v6 and turbo it. the paint is starting to fade and i have a GIANT crack in my dash pad. tell me any ideas/ and what you think.all the wires underneath are taken care of already =)

lol dude...you posted this in the middle of the night, and now its just the middle of the day. people are at work and in school. wait til this evening im sure youll get more responses. Seems like you got a decent deal, because theres probably some useable parts on the car, but it may be more money and work than its worth. Also, turbo on that v6 is definalty not gonna be worthwile...youll end up spending $4000 or more to make 250 flywheel HP and alot of headaches. that money oculd be used to just go buy a v8 camaro and youll be off to a better start.

cool man. sounds good. I wouldnt go white though my buddy has a white and red 92 z28 and its soooo easy to get dirty. Im wanting to take my 86 and paint it black with dual red z28 stripes. I have a z28 body kit and a 89 z28 front fender. im gonna paint the body kit red and the trim red.

i just suggest something that you wont have to wash twice a day but then again it would like nice.

$4000 or more to make 250 flywheel hp??? That's quite an exaggeration. Try $800 to make more power than that to the wheels and no headaches, read the V6 section.

$800???That might cover your turbo, unless you buy a used one off a turbo Omni. I hope your good at fabrication, welding, & tuning. When your done building your 250hp 2.8L turbo'd engine...and your $800(so you say) budget is maxed how are you going to build a decent tranny, buy something to monitor/tune the engine with, going to run an intercooler or alky injection, and/or get a decent rear-end. Don't forget to monitor the engine everyday, cause if you get one bad tank of gas or its just too hot outside and your little 9psi blows a headgasket. Then the antifreeze ruins your engine and you have to shell out another $800(so you say) to build your motor again, no headaches? $4000 is a good call, just my .02 cents. I am not saying don't do it.....nothing better then your best friend telling you how slow your car is, then the turbo lag is gone and he pisses his pants while the tires are still smoking.
Oh ya, how does a 135HP V6 go to 275HP with 9lbs. of boost?????
Nice Camaro by the way ........get that thing fixed so you can enjoy it. I wish I was in Florida right now!!! -Nick.

Dude seriously rethink the wheel and tire combo. You will have to beat the h*ll out of the fender for a 295. I have a 275/60/15 on a 15x10 and it rubs. Also the 15x8 is a little wide for the front I have a 15x6 with a 215/65/15 tire and I want to go smaller. Pics.....

Btw prostars own all best wheel design ever in my opinion

295/50 fit great, i would go with a GN 3.8 v6 if you are dead set on a 6 cylender.

First suggestion...send me your hood! I think you have a good plan. I'd also vote for ditching the six and going with a crate 350 putting around 330-350 horse down.

Good Luck!

Not too bad. The wheels/tires alone are worth a few hundred.

If you're set on making some power out of the sixer, just swap in the 3.4.

that is a nice first car. just my opinion that you should swap to a v8. maybe find a wreaked 4th gen z28 salvage most of the interior and get that engine and transmission.

Looks nice, how does it run. I think if I was you I would get it running and drive the hell out of it. For what you would spend to fix up, you can buy one off the board at this site that would be built right. Some of these guys have been working on 3rd gen longer then you were alive. They proably dated your mom.LOL The first car usually gets dogged out. Have fun, hell 300.00. It would cost more to replace tires.

I have heard that 295s would fit but I honestly dont see how becuase my 275s are a thight fit. But you would have to ask yourself if you want a taller or wider tire, the 295/50 is 27'' and the 275/60 is 28'' tall and looks better overall imo. But its your car just look around for cars with each tire and pick what you like best.
295/50/15

275/60/15

which do you like better?

295s will fit but they also stick out some.

295/50/15s on a 9" rim, Sticks out about half an inch, have fun keeping car clean with them.

I agree, My camaro was a glossy black and I washed and waxed it for 5 hours and I put it away before I got it put away it was dirty I was so pissed. And my moms white van she has not washed it for 2 years and I went mudding with it LOL and it still looks clean. This is also my first car and I had alot of plans for it fix it up make it look nice but everyday that passed by I found something else that needed to be fixed or I have broke and had to fix and I ran into money probs so it looks like I am going to just make it road safe and make it a D/D, winter beater. But anyway back on topic looks like a nice car and sig.
Also dont make the mistake I made by fixing up the int and body, get the motor running good and all the mechanical stuff working good. Then if you still have money start working on the body and int.
