which of these 2 wheels looks better for my car
Im tryingto decide on maybe buying one of these 2 wheels for my car. Ive got a $1500 price limit on wheels so these seems to fit my budget. The TT2 wheel would have to be ordered in 17x9.5 and the JYD would have to be ordered in 18x9.
.......JYD......................TT2.....

yes I agree but those wheels are now sold. They just didnt fit perfect on my car. The fronts needed 2" spacers and I HATE spacers. Plus the spacers make the front brakes almost impossible to see. The rears are 11"wide and they stick out about 1/2" past the quarter panel. Who knows I may paint the next set of wheels black in the middle as well. Id like to see the JYD wheel painted black in the middle.

I personally like the ones on the right...look like Cragar SS's. i've seen those painted gloss black with a metallic flake and they looked real sharp.

I kind of agree with iron duke...your car is a nice silver and making the wheels really bright would upset the contrast of light and dark colors you have going

Yes sir, I personally think the chrome would be a bit much. I think the other rims fit really well but this is just my opinion, they are both nice rims.

well I am getting sickof the silver on my car as well. I might get something different next summer. I was thinking of having some black vinyl "stickers" made to goover the spokes on the wheels. Then I could apply them and have the black insert look with the polished lip. The "stickers" would have to have a perfect shape to them so that they would go on the spoke perfect w/o any bubbles or anything/ Id end up making on with black paper first and then folding it over the spoke to see how it loks and then have 20 of them made. This would allow me to run these wheels with a black center on the silver paint and then if I painted the car in the future, I could just remove the "stickers" and repolish the spokes. its just an idea though.

You know thats actully a good idea...only thing wrong with it that i can see is you have to make sure the stickers can take getting pretty hot when you brake. Thats if you drive the car alot.

ya I have already thought about the heat issue. its just something that will have to be addressed if it happens. I may try going to some local shops that makes custom signs and decals and see what they have to say and what they offer. Maybe I could try a glossy black or a flat black color. Its worth a try. The only way you would know that the wheels are not painted is if you where looking at them from 2 feet away and most people proberbly wont even catch it.

Now thats what Im talking about.Come next year, my windows will be tinted in 5%, the headlight buckets will be painted glossy black and the new SS hood I just got will be painted silver with the scoop being painted in glossy black just like the way that hood is on that red camaro. I think al that along with black TT2 or JYD wheels should make my car look a lot better then it does in that old sig pic.

Im looking for more pics of black TT2 wheels on camaroz28.com. Not sure how many other owners have them in black. The photoshop idea is nice but it seems most people dont get there request answered as much anymore. I wish that the TT2 wheel came in 18x9. I can either go 17x9.5 and then I have ot grind down the C5 caliper to get it to fit, not a big deal but its still something I need to do. The 18" version only comes in 8 and 10" widths. Im not sure how my car would look with 8" fronts and 10" rear TT2s. All I know is that the lip must be deeper for the rear wheels.

Those JY ones would look not bad but I'am more of a fan of Boyd Coddington 'Hotrods' for camaro's, either way she is going to look funny with your 4th gen rear. The dish is going to be really small on the back compared to the front.

personally, I hate black rims, so if you're going to paint the JYD's black get the tt2's. Otherwise I like the JYD's better.
How about silver Coys C5's. Like a TT2 but less lip or not a double lip, so the rim looks bigger. Plus, its thirdgen spacing. Turned out really good on that silver firebird with the bird painted on the hood.(sorry can't remember whose car it was)

I know you can get the Bullit style TT2's for Camaros, those would look awesome on your car. The spokes are a darker charcoal color, just like what you see on the Bullit Mustangs

right now Im looking at the Boyds wheels. 18x9 in the front and 18x10 in the rear. either the smoothies or JYDs I think. There the only wheel that comes in a 18x9 and is not over $500 a wheel. Im just trying to see what BS I will need for a 9" wheel AND a C5 brake upgrade. I know the C5 rotor pushes the wheels out another 1/4" so I gotta factor that into the BS when ordering. I get one shot at ordering and Imust make sure that the numbers I give wil be correct and they will fit AND the rear wheels will have a deeper lip. I figure the backs can have a 6" BS. The fronts Im thinking a 5.25" BS. Does that sound right?

thanks for the photoshop job. I know what the TT2 wheels willlooklike on a silver Z28 because I had them on my last 91z28 and it was silver as well. Too bad it burnt to a crisp though.
----------
what bad news are you breaking to me? I know that I have to custom order my new wheels.
Thats why I am trying to find the best BS before I order them.

I have the TT2 on my 91 GTA and they look great. They were on a 91 Z28 and both cars are black. I'm old school and I miss the chrome look. The newer trend of color matched wheels is plain looking to me. Stock wheels look great also but I need more chrome.

Here are some old pic's I have on my computer that might give you a pretty good idea what smoothies would look like on a camaro. I'am guessing these were 18's, they look pretty bad *** with the nice deep lip.

Personally I like the TT2s, they look good on almost all thirdgens. Leave em the chrome look like in the picture, no black anything. Plus the 18" JYDs would be a bit too much for your car(just my opinion, I dont think 18+ should be used on ANY car)

I'd go with the JYD, that's what I chose. They are currently being shipped so sorry no pics yet. If you wanna go 18x9 all around.. id go 5.5" BS front..maybe 5.0" BS rear if you want the bigger lip in the rear. This would give you a 3.5" lip in the front and a 4" rear lip.
Mine will be 18x8 with 4.5" BS front and 18x9 with 5.5" BS rear... a 3.5" lip all around.
Good luck man

Well, Id like to go 18x9 up front and 18x10 in the rear. This BS thing has me confused and I am going to have to wait until I can talk to someone on the phone about the offset design of the JYD wheel.
----------
Im wondering if I should get all 4 wheels with a 6" BS. I can add a 1/4" spacer up front for the time being until I get the C5 brakes on. This should give me a 4" lip in the rear and a 3" lip in the front. That is asumming the offset is the same I guess.

On my car I went with a 6.5" BS on a 10" wheel for my rear. I had to do some hammering to make it fit proper but it wasn't to bad. With a 6" BS they should clear fine, a lot of guys do 5.85" I believe also. Check my cardomain site to give you a idea how they tuck in at 6.5" BS. For my fronts I went with a 4.5" BS on a 8" wheel so if you wanted to go 9" then I don't see why you couldn't do 5.75" adding the little extra for your breaks once you get them, all though I wouldn't go more then that. Looking at mine I'am thinking you might have to do some grinding in a few spots to make it work, like a rib on the strut and outer tie rod ends.
With figuring out the lip basically a 10" wheel is really 11" wide cause they measure the 10" on the inside, with a 6" BS this will leave you with 5" then minus the 0.5" for the center section so your left with 4.5". This is how it is on my smoothies and I'am guessing the JY will be the same since they are both boyd wheels and kind of the same design.
Hope this helps some.

Tony89GTA, thanks for that info. Do you think I should bother going with a 9" front wheel or just stick to an 8"? There the same price so I cant see why someone wouldnt get the wider of the too. I just dont want the wheel to rub on the inside or be too far out beyopnd the fender. I problem with our cars is that the front brake system is so far inside the wheel well and you end up with a deep lip on the wheel. This is horrible looking when the rears have a smaller lip. The only way to fix this is to move the brake rotor further out. Now im not up to par with the 1LE brakes but I know that the C5 rotor will push the wheel out about 1/4" and that helps a little. I can also add a 1/4" spacer as well. So, thats 1/2" that Ijust pushed the wheel out. this means less lip in the front which is what I want. Now, I just have to correct that movement with the proper BS measurement. Now you said the I should runing a 9" wide wheel with a 5.75" BS. That seems all well and good but I need facts that it will NOT hit the tie rod and/or my strut. I also took alook at the pics of your wheels on your car and I think the placment of them is perfect to me. I would love to have my front wheels sit like that but have a 9" front wheel.
PS how much does the 1LE spindle move the brakes out? Would it be worth it fo rme to get apair of those or just leave it alone and use the 5.75"BS

ya I think Im gonna lean towards the JYD wheels. The TT2 wheels have that stepped lip and it may interfere with the C5 calipers.

I like the JYDs also
