Keyhold guards on doors!! 8P

I just picked my 1LE finally. The damn previous owner put those adhesive square keyhole protectors on. Is it
safe to use a heat gun, like the ones used for hobby airplanes to remove it? I don't want to pull it off cold
and see a patch of paint come off with it.?? What's the safest way to remove any residual adhesive left behind?
What's the best advise?

I took mine off with a heat gun and used some accetone to take off the adhesive(it evaporates so quickly that its hard for it to hurt the paint
