I swapped out my prokit for some sportlines and I think it looks much better. It lowered it about another inch. My tires are still a bit on the small side so with some new tires I think it will be perfect. I'm taking the wheels of of this and puting them on my formula anyway but it still looks sweet.




Here you can see how much lower it is than the formula, it has the prokit on it.

 

Goes around a corner like a go- cart now, Huh! I really like the sportlines compared to the old pro-kit springs I had before. Your car looks really nice with that drop. Make sure to post pics of the formula with those wheels on there... it will look bad ***!!

 

I replaced the A arm bushings with poly while they were out so it really does handle great now. I'll post up pics once I swap the wheels for sure. I'm getting ready to pull the intake on the 91 to fix the china wall leak.

 

Looks great man...I'm considering droppin my IROC and I can't decide which springs to go with (Pro Kit or Sportlines). Overall, how much do you think the Sportlines dropped your Bird from the stock ride height?

 

I think the previous owner said it dropped an inch from stock with the prokit. The sportlines I would say another inch. They will settle a bit more too so it's kinda hard to say.

 

Hmmm...I think 2 inches could be a little too much. I'm runnin the 18 inch chrome IROCs so hopefully I wont have any rubbing issues whichever route I decide to take. Thanks bud.

 

I run 18x9s, and 18x10 with my sportlines, and I don't rub.

 

I'm running 18x9's all around with no rubbing at all.

sportlines are suppose to drop the car 1.8inch from stock height. The pro-kit suppose to lower the car 1 inch from stock height. When the pro-kit was on my old ride i measured the height. I measured it from the floor to the highest arch on my fenders. heres the specs.
left front: 26.5
right front:26.5
left rear: 27
right rear:27.25

87tpi, looks great i love the sportlines on my ride as well. i have a question though, is that spoiler on the red firebird fiberglass or rubber? is it aftermarket or stock?

 

I have no idea. It's a 91 formula so whatever came on those. I believe it's original.

 

i loved my sportlines when i had them on.. best handling car i ever been in.. great stance and good ride quality.. but where i live, its too low, way to many speed bumps and steep driveways, etc.. there are no closed road tracks here so it was a waste for me.. we only have a strip here, so i have drag suspension now.. handling is still ok for drag suspension with 220in/lb springs and 90/10 struts.. dragging with the sportlines was with 26x8.5 slicks..

What shocks/struts are you using 87tpi? How does it ride, harsh? bumpy? stiff?

 

I;m running Bilsteins and it's a little stiff but not too bad. It's comfortable.

 

I'll be using KYB GR-2 shocks and struts for the time being, how do you think the ride will be?

Eventually, I'll probably switch to either Bilstein's or Koni's.

 

It had gr2's in the rear with the prokit and it rode nice, not sure about the sportlines and the gr2's but it shouldn't be too bad.

what rims are you going to put on that car, then, if you're putting those rims on the formula?

 

i know dropzones arent the same as the sportlines, i installed some dropzones 1.75" front 1.5" rear drop and my car was way to low, lower then the pic of your sportlines, i replaced the saggy worn out springs with those, i replaced the dropzones with the pro-kit and i love the look and ride is nice

 

I was going to just find a different set of wheels here on tgo for it but I may just sell the crosslace off of the formula and put the centerlines on it.

 

i've got the sportlines on my Formula but it doesn't seem as low as yours.
I have GR2 front struts and Gas-A-just rear shocks.

 

Are Gas-a-justs a good investment?

 

Does the front clip scrape the ground whenever you pull into driveways now? That's the only thing I'm worried about, since my gf's driveway has one of those slopes you have to go up to get into the driveway. I can keep myself from pulling up too close at gas stations with the huge curbs, but you can't really avoid pulling into a driveway.

 

I can probably answer this question better since we have the same GFX... Yes with the sportlines you can scrape the front spoiler, but you have to try pretty hard, or have a very severe angle. We have been doing this for years... just go into every steep driveway at an angle.

The handling benifits are more than worth extra precautions with bumps and dips.

 

Dropzones are lower then sportlines, and they're progressive rate springs aren't as strong (or so I've been told) so you get more bounce and a lower overall ride.

I'm running kyb gr-2 all around with my sportlines, no complaints here.

I scrape my air dam and mud flaps all the time, but I'm yet to scrape my gfx/chin spoiler.

The only time I scrape my airdam is when I back out of my driveway. You can see how steep the driveway is though.

Here it is with the stock wheels. I'm selling the car so I swapped wheels. The 18's are now on the formula .

 

They are not bad and only cost $20-30 more than the GR2 shocks.

Thanks, I just can't wait to sell the t/a and buy the sportlines and the rest of my Z06 brakes, and some new tires. It will look much better once it's lower. I'm puting on a magnaflow catback too so the shine of the tips will look good too.
